Anyone been on the Imagination with Carnival?

Anyone been on the Imagination with Carnival?

We are going on our first family cruise in May and this is the ship we are going on. Any good or bad things? Also how does the tipping work, can you pay gratuities in advance when you book so that you dont have to worry about it at the end?

I think I was on that boat last year. The ports of call were Key West & Calica (Cozymel/Playa del Carmen). We had a good time. There people at our table were a lot of fun. The comedy show was surprisingly funny. As always, the food was good and the service was amazing! During the cruise, you sign for everything. They give you gratuity envelopes and they are supposed to be distributed to the correct people. I don't usually do that, I personally hand the money to the Maitre d & waiter.

Our ports are Grand Cayman and Ochos Rios. We havent booked yet, only because some people have told us to wait until right before the cruise so you can get a discounted rate since there are 6 of us and we have to book two cabins with 3 ea because price wise it's the only way it works out. However now that I keep checking it I see the cabins are going so I think when my tax money comes in Im gonna do it now.

I responded to you on LIF but didn't know your ports. You HAVE to go to the falls in Ochos Rios. Such an amazing time and a blast!! We have been to Grand Cayman twice. First time did the See and Sea tour followed by Stingray City. The second year we just went to the beach. Wasn't thrilled with either tour but the beach was nice. Depends on what you're looking to do. Just beware- in Jamaica they will hound you for tips. They are well deserved!! Just don't take out a wad, have what you want to give them handy so they don't start asking for more.

I went on the imagination a while ago when it was first new (10 years ago). It was my first cruise and I loved it. I believe my parents tipped at the end of the week.

Re: Anyone been on the Imagination with Carnival?

Just went this past January on the Imagination!

And got engaged on the beach in Mexico!

Obviously I had a great time!!

The food is okay but theres alot of it!!

The alcohol is great but you have to pay extra!

The staff is friendly, room service was great! The actual room was ok though.

The casino on the boat pissed me off cause your drinks arent free at the table!- In fact if you gamble at all - do NOT put it on the card - make sure you pay cash (they charge a fee for card use in the casino)!

The only thing that REALLY bothered me was that I couldnt get into any of the hot tubs until our last day! There are signs all over that say its for adult use only but people have their whole family in at once (4 adults 8 kids)!

They have funny attractions and thjingsto-do too!

I had an overall great time! Of course, again I did get engaged so I was glowing the whole time!!

Great! Thanks for the tips. I noticed when looking at the booking again that you can pay ahead of time for the gratuities so I think that's what we'll do. I dont want to have to worry about it at the end. I looked at the falls in ochos rios and I think I definetly want to do it the only thing is that we are going with the kids too and I dont know how much they will be able to do.

FH and I were on this ship in January 2005. The service was great, the entertainment was good and food was great Cruise food standard, our room was always clean and we didn't have any problem at all. We had tons of fun. We did the tipping in advance so we didn't have to worry about it at all.
One thing that kind of caught my attention was that the bathroom was sort of old. It is an older cruise but I didn't let it bother me.
Feel free to FM me for any specific questions you have.
Don't worry, you are going to have a blast!

they usually have a teen club on it, or teen night. My sister who is 16 has been on 2 cruises, and has always found someone to hang out with.

The teenagers usually roam the boat in groups giggling anyway...lol They also have kareoke at night, and shows for them to go to.

Oh okay. So it is age appropriate though right. I saw a review that said there was nothing but toys and video games for the kids and mine are 16 and 14 I dont think they'd be too interested.

We went with friends to key west and cozumel and had a great time. There was a young crowd....which was crazy...we loved it! Tipping was included but we gave more in the end because everyone was so sweet.

I was on the fascination - it was great.

Pretty sure you can't pay before hand. We tipped our head waiter $50, secondary waiter $30, and our room guy $50.

The cruise gives you little envelopes to put the tips in. Have a great time.
