Re: Anyone been to a wedding with no dj lights?
I am on the fence about the light show. Thank God my Dj has showcases set up from now until september so I can go see what it looks like. I know their musical style and LOVE it, but the lights I am not sure........

Re: Anyone been to a wedding with no dj lights?
me personally... i think i like the lights for part of it...our dj said he brings a couple anyways(no extra charge)... he told us that its upto us but in the past hes seen that sometimes they help to get more people up on the dance floor(less attention on them with the dimmed lights) ... so i think i may want it for part of it..
edited to say, fh and i looked at starlight, we both liked them, but decided to go with another dj and save the money

I have to agree with those who said that it's more elegant without the lights. I was just at a wedding with a DJ w/o lights, and everyone had a great time dancing.

I didn't have lights, never considered it at all, b/c I didn't want that clubbish feel. I do agree for a Wedding, it's more elegant without lights. Most weddings I've gone to did not have the lights. The couple that did have them, they were fine, but they didn't make or break the wedding.
But like everyone said, IT'S YOUR DAY - so go with what YOU want

Re: Anyone been to a wedding with no dj lights?
I am having a band, but even if I had a DJ, I don't want lights. If I wanted my wedding to be a dance club, I would have had it in one. I also am considering that some older relatives have expressed that the wild lights give them a headache as well as the fact that I have a guest who is epileptic and I want her to stay the evening and not have to leave when the party really starts.

I am having a band - BUT I just wanted to say people generally look for three things -(as FH says)
Good food Free drinks Good music -
Anything beyond that most people won't care one way or another - those other touches reflect your personality.
So if you like lights go for them - if you don't I'm sure as long as your dj keeps them dancing that most people won't know the difference. Take it for what it is worth but I think you should do what your heart desires and what best reflects your personalities

I booked Starlight Express also and went with the lights. I didn't want all those hand outs & favors. I just think it makes it look sweet 16-ish. JMO

I don't think I would want lights either. Im done with the clubbing days as is my FH. Glow sticks are OUT....I am not a raver anymore! Although the light up roses sound cute. I dont think any more than a spot light would be in theme with the hall I have...everything is so elegant and flashy lights would look strange I think.

I thought the quote for Dr. Dance was high. And decided not to get the extras.
But it's your day, if you like the lights don't let anyone talk you out of it.

Re: Anyone been to a wedding with no dj lights?
we are getting the lights. but before i said i wanted them i specified to the dj what i wanted. i told him that i didn't want it to look like a club. the lights are going to be more for spotlighting and washing colors into the room. he showed me a demonstration in his studio and the lights were great. my room is huge and so is the dance floor so it will give it a little bit more interest. i don't think we would have done it if we had a smaller room. i don't think you need them, but i also think that the lights can be done in a classy way depending on your Dj. My Dj is one of the house DJ's for oheka castle and i can't see it being not nice there.

I am not sure yet if i want lights are not. We are in a smaller room only abuot 80 guests, so I think lights are unncessary

Re: Anyone been to a wedding with no dj lights?
yes i was asking you- that does seem high priced but you get what you want because its your wedding. you have to do it because you want to, not to please the guests.
my friend had a DJ and she had two dancers, lights, her name and her husbands name spinning in lights on the dancefloor, 2MC's and a dj. was it nice, yeah.. but what i remember is great music and dancing all night! no one sat down at her wedding.
And I booked her DJ for my wedding because of the music and awesome MC. if you have the extra money to spend and you really want those things, then go for it..

Re: Anyone been to a wedding with no dj lights?
I agree with alot of the girls. I mean, some dj companies offer 500-1000 giveaways, What the heck am I gonna do with all those giveaways!!!!!!!!!!!! I really like the lights but I am not feeling the favor ideas. I don't want my hall to look so messy (I don't know if that makes sense) but I have been to weddings where all those giveaways are thrown on the floor and all over the tables and stuff. (Should I worry about things like that or am I just thinking too deep into it?) Some DJ's also throw in so many unnecessary things just to hike up the prices. for example, I don't need dancers, 2mcs, party motivator (I have never even seen one at a wedding before so I wouldn't know what to expect) Some of these packages require a 6 man team But like everyone else says, you should really do what you feel is best and what you love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
