Just curious how rainy it truly is. We're interested in Arenal, Manuel Antonio etc..

We are going--in July, also rainy season...our travel agent said it isn't too bad--just rains for like 10-20 min a few times a day...we are staying half the time in Manuel and the other half in the northwest beach area where it hardly rains.

I went to Arenal and Manuel Antonio during the rainy season. However I was there in May (at the beginnin of the rainy season) not in September.
Arenal was humid and we got sun showers. The showers were actually very cooling. Don't miss out on the hot springs and the waterfall while in arenal!!!
Manuel Antonio was super hot during the day - we were on the beach all day. The rain did not start until about 5 or 6 p.m. - it never ruined our day.
I also went to Monteverde where we got very little rain.
San Jose got HEAVY rain every night, and sometimes in the afternoon. Bring some sort of rain poncho or windbreaker if you are going to San Jose.
