Hey if you want to change into flats during the reception........wouldn't that make the hem of your dress be too long?
Should you get the dress hemed shorter and split the difference?
i can't believe this problem just occured to me

Re: anyone changing shoes
Your dress should be hemmed to the shoes you are planning on wearing through a majority of your pictures. If you hem it shorter it will look silly.
When you change into flats it'll just drag, but at that point who really cares.....
Oh just remember to change back into ur wedding shoes at the garter toss thing (if you are having one). I forgot to change shoes and now those pics have me wearing the comfy heels I brought with me instead of the wedding ones....oh well.

Re: anyone changing shoes
It may cause a problem...I had two pair of shoes and when I changed from my 3 1/2 inch heels to my 3 inch heels, I fell down the steps outside at CLM since I tripped on my dress.....back to the 3 1/2 inch heels I went---I thought the difference was minor and wouldn't matter but it did!

Re: anyone changing shoes
im only doing a small heel considering im like 5'8 or 5'9. so i dont have to alter the dress, but i will be changing into white platform flip flops at the reception. So they will be about the same height. Also im not doing the garter so i dont have to worry about anyone seeing them.

Re: anyone changing shoes
Well my shoes [pics in album] were already very comforrable and very me...but I did bring a change of shoes, just pretty flip flops with a wedge in case but I never changed in to them. Who has time to do something like that at a reception!! LOL!! But you definitely should! If you're wearinf heals, go online and look for bridal flip flops, they have pretty ones all over the web.

That is a good question. I think I am going to bring some flats but not too flat

Re: anyone changing shoes
This might sound weird
But I am wearing heals... and just in case I want to change... I was THINKING... not sure if I am going to do it... but I was thinking of asking the seamstress of putting bustle strings in the front of my dress at the bottom... so it would just pick it up a little...
I guess I would have to lay it out to see if it is possible... but I wouldn't see why not.

hmmm. Great idea, bustling the front. I already have bunches at the bottom of my dress.
I wonder if that will work (without costing a fortune).

Re: anyone changing shoes
I was thinking about this..my solution was going to be..buy a pair of platforms so that the hem doesn't drag but my feet are a little more comfy.

i was thinking the same thing. i mentioned that to the woman when she measured me for my dress. i am only 5'4' i am wearing 3' heels, those puppies are coming off at the reception....but its going to be a big difference! i know at that point i wont care as much.

i'm the same height and wearing 3' heels as well (i'm assuming you meant 3' and not 3' ). i bought a pair of platform sneakers from 'volatile' that are 2 3/4' they also have a bunch of other heights going up to 2 7/8' and their styles are pretty cute. here's a link to their site and a pic of my shoes. (btw, my colors are chocolate/green/pink so that's why the green's there, plus it's my favorite color. i actually wanted all gree, but couldn't find it.)

Re: anyone changing shoes
me too....and just recently I started looking for shoes and originally I was looking for a shorter 2 inch heel and saw nothing I liked, and finally found a Nina shoe in Nordstroms and DSW that I liked but the are both 3.5 inches. so there will be a change of shoes for me!! but I am worried about tripping on the hem too. I was thinking about ballet slippers. but are those too flat?
do you have the site for the sam & libby ballet slippers?

Re: anyone changing shoes
I was thinking about this too. My wedding shoes are only about 2 inches anyway, but I think I'm going to buy a pair of wedding ballet slippers just in case for the reception. At that point, if my dress drags a bit, I don't think I'll be too concerned.
