Anyone chking out the 08 board and the relationship problems?!
Original post by MJDoc12
Over the past week or two, it seems like there have been a lot of girls on the 08 boards with relationship issues like post poning or cancelling the wedding...or taking a 'break' from their relationshp, etc. I feel so bad for these poor brides who are going thru rough times!
How do you think you ladies would deal if FH said he wanted to take a 'break' or post pone the wedding?
a friend of mine married in 2005, and about 6 months before the wedding he TOLD HIS FW: 'I'm not ready to get married, I need more time' and her response was 'OMG, what about the WEDDING?!'
needless to say they have discussed divorce SEVERAL times since then and have the worst marriage i've ever seen.

If Vinny wanted to postpone the wedding (I guess let's pretend that we weren't married first lol)... But if he wanted to either cancel it or put it off I would immediately feel the need to work on US... I think the 'wedding' would be the last thing on my mind in terms of importance.
I would want to go to counseling with him and sit down and discuss what is wrong, what we are not doing correctly, open up the lines of communication and take it from there. Then, I would decide if we want to continue the relationship or if we are better off going our seperate ways.
But in terms of worrying about the wedding... Hellllll NO... that would be the last thing on my mind b/c it, at the end of the day, means NOTHING unless Vinny and I are OK...
Dani - You said it perfectly and this is basically what you have to do if you are in the situation. everything about or regarding the wedding gets put to the side and the relationship is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. Thank you for saying what you did...

It is sad, and I cannot imagine what it would be like to go through. But people get very caught up in the 'wedding' process and when something like this happens fails to recognize that they need to work on themselves as a couple not to salvage a wedding but to salvage a relationship.

I cant even begin to imagine what these ladies are going through right now -- the mere THOUGHT of not having FH in my life makes me sick. He IS my life. Their worlds must be turned upside down right now and my heart goes out to all of the girls who are going through this I hope things work out for them.
I really dont think the 'wedding' is what is upsetting them right now. From the posts I read, it seemed that the break itself was what they were so upset about. The wedding would be the last thing on my mind...saving my relationship would be the first -- and I beleive its their first too from the sound of the posts.
to all you 08 ladies who are having a hard time right now and that everything works out the way it should. And remember, everything happens for a reason. Maybe this is just a wake-up call that you need to truly focus on the two of you right now....or maybe its just post-engagement jitters. Hopefully it'll blow over, but if it doesnt, God has other plans for you and he always has his reasons

I dont know what age has to do with it, but I believe one of the girls is 23.
Its true tho -- MANY people get caught up in the wedding process....I think we're all a little guilty of that. Its so important to always focus on the two of you.
But it sounded like there was also so other issues going on with these couples. Its so sad.

I saw the 08 board as well. It is pretty crazy. I don't even know what I would do if FH told me that!! Like other people said though - it's so much better to find out BEFORE you get married, because those problems will be multiplied once you actually get married and it's a few years down the road. Some friends of ours broke off their October 2007 wedding two months ago. It was a sad time - but it was definitely for the better. It's not an easy thing to do, but it's probably a smart decision.

That's a shame.
Honestly, if FW or I ever decided we weren't ready, I'd rather know that ahead of time than afterwards. As much as we both want an awesome wedding, I'm with Dani- the wedding is just the first day of a marriage.
