Anyone contacted by La Quinta hotel...which took over the Wingate GC

Hello all,

A lovely 08 bride noticed the Wingate is now La Quinta. Someone else in the thread said they would be calling brides to update them on this...has anyone been contacted? I just called and obviously no sales people are working right now (in my experience they keep 9-5 hours) and guy at the front desk seemed a bit overwhelmed. He did say they could not guarantee bar parties. I am really hoping the block incentives like shuttling/brunch/$ off wedding night is still in effect. Does anyone know anything else? I hate that i have to wait for tomorrow.

thanks ladies...

That's interesting....I called them about 4 weeks ago to block rooms. They sent the contract late, but it said Wingate Inn on it (as did the direction cards). I called the sales dept twice (because there was a small error in the contract) and left 2 messages. No one bothered to call me back, so after 2 weeks I booked with the Hilton garden Inn.

Re: Anyone contacted by La Quinta hotel...which took over the Wingate GC

I am actually getting married in 17 days and drove by Wingate Inn, now called La Quinta Inn yesterday on my way to the mall. I was appalled that I have rooms booked here for myself and my guests and that nobody contacted me to tell me they changed their name. Obviously I have already sent out the directions to my guests and they would be looking for Wingate, not La Quinta Inn.

Nonetheless, I had an after-party booked but they told me they do not have a liquor license yet. I know from working with commercial RE that it takes time to get a liquor license. I was extremely disappointed by this b/c most of my guests booked due to the after party. They mentioned they would provide us a shuttle to the Tin Alley Bar which is down the road from them but they close at 3:00 AM and my wedding ends at 1:30 so by the time we would actually reach the bar it would probably be about 2:00 which to stay for an hour just doesn't make sense to me. I liked the idea of having the party in the hotel this way whoever is tired could just go up to their room.

We are still staying at the hotel but I am disappointed at them not calling their guests to tell them that the name of the hotel has changed. I have to call all our friends and family who have booked rooms there to explain to them now to look for La Quinta Inn instead of Wingate.

I know it is not the staff's fault that the hotel was sold b/c I deal with this business.

Re: Anyone contacted by La Quinta hotel...which took over the Wingate GC...UPDATE

Update...

I called today and it seems that things are just getting switched over. Room blocks, shuttle incentives, brunches & room rates are still in place. They have to wait for a new liquor license to offer a bar party.

Thanks to the ladies last night for supplying much needed info. I feel alot better. I was just about to create STD with Wingate info on it.....the change really thru me for a loop. I sympathize with brides that have already send stuff out, but at least most of the features of the Wingate are still in place.

Thank you for this post! I booked a suite here for the night before my wedding, and I had no idea the name had changed. I just called, and my reservation is still there, and the prices are the same
