I've read that a few people on here are living in Massachusetts, and I was just wondering if anyone was local. I'm on the south shore in Bridgewater.

Re: Anyone currently living in MA?
I'm not living in MA, but my FH lives there. He is near the Hew Hampshire border, in Tyngsboro.

I know where that is, but it's far from me. I will be leaving FH behind here for a few months when I move back to LI, he will be soon to follow, good thing!

Re: Anyone currently living in MA?
When are you moving back to LI? Where? I am from Sag Harbor and would move there in a heartbeat if we could afford it..its so sad that it costs way too much money to live in my hometown unless I live with my parents!!

Re: Anyone currently living in MA?
Well, I am moving back to LI in July, and FH won't be until December (he's finishing his degree....finally!). It is RIDICULOUSLY expensive up here to live, and I am hoping to find something a lot cheaper on LI. I was paying on LI for a 2 bedroom what I pay for a one bedroom here. We would like to live in Smithtown or St. James again, since that is where we are from, but my parents, who just moved to Middle Island, offered to let us bum at their house for a few months to save some money for the wedding, so we'll see.

I live in MA too. I currently live in Cambridge, but am moving to Malden soon. I grew up in Ronkonkoma. I just read your other post about not being happy in MA. I can definutely relate to what you are saying although I have grown to like it here. FM if you would like to chat some more.

Re: Anyone currently living in MA?
my dad used to live in Salem. I had friends in Malden and Melrose. FH and i are thinking about moving to MA. I LOVED it when my dad lived there. I like the colonial houses. The 'oldness' of some of the towns. Ilove New England. I can't wait to leave NY. Its funny though, i think of NY/LI as ridiculously expensive.

Tracy, if you think LI is expensive, check out the prices in MA! It's awful here!

You think so prncssrachel? I guess we live in different parts of MA -- I think I can get more for my money here then NY/LI...

Re: Anyone currently living in MA?
It totally depends on where you live. I mean, we pay for a one bedroom here, what we paid for a two bedroom on LI. We had a cheaper apartment when we first moved here, but there was a drive by shooting in the parking lot outside our building. Needless to say, paying the extra money to live in a nicer area is TOTALLY worth it!

Re: Anyone currently living in MA?
5% in MA, but in Suffolk county , there's no sales tax on clothing, right? Or have I been gone too long? But let me tell you, I make so much less money here with all the taxes. I used to take home 200 more dollars a week in NY, and my salary is the same, insurance is actually less here than in NY.

Re: Anyone currently living in MA?
When I lived there, a 2 bedroom apt. in Arlington was a similar price to what I see here in Suffolk. The difference was that in Arlington a 2 bedroom was the lower half of a 2 family home, often with a basement. We did look at houses for awhile there, and found prices within 45 min. of Boston were comparable to Nassau in the nice areas, but property taxes were a little less (not too much). If you went an hour or so out of Boston, you could find some nice property and lower prices. Gas and insurance were definately less.
And you are about an hour from New Hampshire, which didn't have any sales tax at all.
