Anyone disappointed with certain people who say 'no'?
This is regarding my Bridal shower, which will be on Nov. 28th. My mother has told me everything, right down to a daily report as to who responded yes and no.
I feel kind of stupid, but I am upset that some of my cousins (who live local)are not coming to my bridal shower.
I know that bridal showers can be really really really boring, and people have very busy lives. I guess I'm hurt because I've gone to every single bridal shower, baby shower, graduation party for them...and now that I'm the last of the cousins to get married, it's almost as if it's a bother to them.
I don't know, has anyone felt like this?

I did.. it's perfectly normal.... Unless they have a legitimate excuse not to come, I suggest you keep it in the back of your mind for when you have an occurrence when you have to choose, this will make things MUCH easier.

We had the same thing with our eparty. People we have known for years 'can't come'. Marcella's right, remember it in the future.

I was very disappointed at my bridal shower. Most of my friends did not come. For whatever reasons they came up with...I was disappointed for the same reason that I went to all their bridal showers, weddings and now several are having babies.
I guess I will be expected to go to their baby showers, but I just may have something else to do on that day. Sad to say!

It's perfectly normal to feel that way. Everyone has a diff. way of looking at this stuff. I always feel obligated to attend this sort of thing and feel guilty when I can't. Not everyone feels that way at all though. One of my BMs couldn't make it b/c of school-I totally understand though of course I was a little sad...but I'll still plan on attending hers one day. I just think it depends on the person.
I wouldn't 'keep it in mind' if it were me, it won't make you feel better to be spiteful. JMO.

The thing about these 4 certain cousins....they don't have an excuse...it's just 'don't want to go'. They didn't say that, but I know that they have no plans for that day.
Kinda stinks!
I'm sure I'll be happy as a clam at the bridal shower, I'm just p'oed right now.

Totally understand. Many of my friends could not come either. It hurt and I begged my Mom to cancel the shower but she wouldn't. But I WILL keep it in mind.

I havent been through this yet -
I can be a flake with my family sometimes ... I just cannot deal with some of my Aunts and cousins I dont get along with (not the guest of honor) but if I was really close to the realitive I would say F it and go anyway.
I am however not a flake with my friends so if you need some extra 'cousins' you can always count me in for your shower
I loooove some champange punch in the afternoon.

I was disappointed when several of my 'good' friends weren't at my shower, especially when I made every effort to be at similar occasions for them.
How about people who don't go to the shower and don't send a gift or even acknowledge your shower? I was always taught that if you can't go to the shower, at least send a gift, so I was surprised that lots of people who weren't at my shower didn't send anything. I guess I just love presents, but...

I was very surprised by that as well. Especially for those whose bridal shower I went to. I know it shouldnt be all about the money, but I went to four bridal showers last year and only two of them showed at mine and the other two didn't even send a gift.
I always send a gift if I cant go to something.
I have a friend whose bridal shower and wedding I went to. She not only did not come to my bridal shower, nor did she send a gift. This same so-called friend has not RSVP to my wedding (which she told me 3 months ago she could not wait to go to). I called her last week to ask her if she was coming. I got that her step-son wants to go to a scout party and there is no one to take him. Hello, this is my wedding. He is 7 years old and will have plenty of parties to go to. She said she had to go to an appt. I asked her to call me back. That was last Wednesday and she still hasnt called me back.
I'm pissed!!!! And have put her down as a NO. If she calls me back I just may disinvite her. Rude!!! Especially since the responces should have been in two weeks ago.

regina2, that sucks. Like my FI said, this is how you find out who is really your friend and who isn't. It's unfortunate but true.

That does stink!
None of my BMs will make it to the shower, but I totally understand, they are all out of state, and don't have the money to fly in..so I even told them not to worry about it.
But, to have my own family just not feel like coming really aggravates me. I don't particularly enjoy bridal or baby showers, but I go anyway because it's important to that person.
Oh well, they're going to miss out on some yummy food at the Country House. (I'm sticking my tongue out at them as I write this ha ha!)

I don't blame you....I would be disappointed too. What goes around...comes around.
