I like the idea too, but IMO it's going to cause a crazy commotion as people huddle around to find their names and table numbers.
what do you think?

i dont think so because it will be in alphabetical order just like the place cards - prob take as long for them to find their name either way and it would be a large chart

Re: anyone doing a seating chart and not placecards
i'm planning to make it myself or ask ppl for help b/c to order one can come up to $200+! I'm planning to have my brother make a layout then print it out at kinkos. Buy a frame and set it up on an easle at the RH. I hope it won't cause anymore crowding than if i were to have placecards. I like the idea b/c it's not done as often. Here are some links to order from (or get ideas)

i like this idea but im unsure
for those who are doing a chart.. how are you making it? are you having it made for you?
My FH's brother did this at his wedding.
He had it out for coctail hour so people could check it out then. It wasn't in alphabetical order, it was listed by tables (IMO it was kind of annoying to find your name that way, the alphabetical thing is probably easier )
but they made it on pretty paper with caligraphy writing

FH likes the idea but I told him to stop spending money! We get free placecards from the RH

Re: anyone doing a seating chart and not placecards
OK so they came out small, but you can still see them.
basically what I did is: 1. bought big posterboards and nice paper, from paper presentation. They have them hanging in the back, it's actually paper on one side to glue, but the other is velvet...it's real nice. I used elmer's glue and paster them to the poster boards. Then, I got ribbon in my two shades of pink and divided the board up.
2. when it gets closer and we have the count, I'm gonna print the names on nice opal stardom paper (it's that shiny kind.)

And there's my seating chart
that sounds doable. thanks for sharing that!
that looks great!

thanks you can see in the second pic, that's how dark the paper is, it looks real nice, and the papers in between is where we would put the names

Re: anyone doing a seating chart and not placecards
don't think we're going to do a seating chart....simply because we have a huge guest list..........we're actually putting the seating as a little slip in, in the program (that's given out at the ceremony) as well as making place cards.........hopefully that'll cut back on the huge mass of people huddled to find out where they are sitting

Re: anyone doing a seating chart and not placecards
I am making charts and putting them in 8by10 photo frames, then when they get to their table. There will be candle placecards with their names already at the table so no one has to carry a hot votive.... theyre in my album, they are nice...
