Anyone Doing Black BM dresses....

Original post by ido07

and hearing a LOT of negative feedback, mainly from older women?
A lot of the women in my family have been making comments that black is not appropriate for a joyous occasion like a wedding, but I really like black and white, and my BM's also seem to like that idea.

I think it totally depends on the time of year for the wedding and whether it is a day or evening affair.

If its an evening affair, who cares. We ALL have worn a black dress at some time in our lives to some evening function and isnt that what a wedding is? A function?

I would stay away from black, especially long black dresses, if its during the day in the summer. If you still want to do black then, break it up with brihter flowers or white accents and cut the length to maybe tea length. Otherwise it might look a bit Adams Family.

I am having my MOH wear a red or hot pink dress. We have gotten soooo much slack from older women in my family for the color scheme. We won't even go into what they said about my red high heels that Im planning to wear!

As the other girls have said, it is YOUR wedding, so do what you like. ESPECIALLY if you are coughing up the moola as we are.

I had wanted to do black BMs dresses originally- I always thought it looked very classy. But my mom said that most guests will be wearing black so the girls might not stand out. Also, once we booked the Estate at East Wind, I wanted to go with more Christmas colors.
