and hearing a LOT of negative feedback, mainly from older women? A lot of the women in my family have been making comments that black is not appropriate for a joyous occasion like a wedding, but I really like black and white, and my BM's also seem to like that idea.

Black is truely an elegant color and its great for formal weddings. One of my favorite looks with black BM dresses with red roses. A lot of older women will say black is not appoarite for a wedding, but they'll also say that only a virgin should wear white, or off white wedding dresses are for women getting married for the second time. Hence what they'll say is out dated and old fashion for most weddings today. I say go for what you want, its your day!
I'm doing black BM dresses with red roses. Those older woman associate black with funerals, but that is not true anymore. Black is every elegant and very much accepted. If you and your BMs like black and white, got for it!!! They are the ones wearing the dresses, they should like it.

Thanks for the confidence booster ladies! I feel better about black now, and I really do believe that I should do what I want...I know people will always have comments anyway...regardless of the color I end up choosing!
And I LOVE the way black with red bo-k's looks

black is great just use bright flowers... i was a BM and wore black and we carried red roses... everyone loved the dress and i've worn it twice since!!

Its a great dress and very flattering...I have girls ranging in size from 22w to 6 so I had a tough time finding one that looked good on them all until this one~!!!!!!

awsome. the dress is so pretty and flattering on every body type. the red is a beautiful color also. i always said i wanted black bm dresses since i was a kid. lol.
my mom wore black to my brothers wedding amd my friend kathys mom wore black to her wedding. i don't think people will criticize her, i think its flattering and elegant. tell your mom t go for it.

Black is my favorite color!!!!! DH likes it too. We had the colors black and red picked out before our wedding date. My BMs thanked me for it. And the older people that questioned it before the wedding were also saying how nice it looked on our wedding day. I even told the FG's mother to pick a dress that had white, black or red in it. She was so cute!!!!
