Iam not sure how to go about doing the Donations to cancer research.. We want to do it in my mothers name as well his uncle.. How do you think that will go over with the guests? SHOULD I include chocolate or something ?

one of my best friends just got married a few weeks ago and they donated to the American Cancer Society. They gave them scolls that had a very nice saying on it. I swear I cried every time I read it. She also put homemade chocolates on the table. It was very nice. Although I have to say she was very upset at the end of the night with how many scrolls weren't even opened!

You don't HAVE to include anything, donations are very very common these days as favors. A thoughtful alternative to traditional favors. You can leave a framed note on each table explaining that in lieu of traditional favors, Mr & Mrs X have chosen to make a donation to Charity ABC...and you coud put in memory or in honor of whoever, or not anything at all and just name the charity. You can also display scrolls at each place setting detailing the same thing. Chocolates are always nice though. I plan on doing the same, donation along with something sweet.

thet last 3 weddings we attended did donations. they had a piece of paper (with a bow or ribbon) or scroll with the place the donation was made to. They did not give choc, or anything with it

I got a wonderful package from the American Cancer Society when I inquired on their website. They send you a package with all the scroll or card options, and all the different things that they can say... they're fantastic. This is what we're doing as well. We lost FH's mom less than three months after we got engaged...and her name will be on the scrolls, they're really nice...Go to the website!!!

im seriously thinking of a donation to the american cancer society. i have a bunch of favor boxes so i might put colored jordan almonds in them also.

You did this straight from the ACS website? Each of us is choosing a charity. I'm probably doing Susan G. Komen, he's thinking Dana Farber.
Maybe? We were going to do vodka & martini glasses & / or a shaker, but not everyone likes it and they're $$$ (lwe're talking $20/per couple ) so now we're thinking of doing 2 pear cookies & a donation to my Family schlorship fund in W. Babylon School District

We are doing donation favors as well....We will most likely be donating to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and something to do with diabetes....I lost my grandparents to cancer, lost 2 aunts last year to heart attacks and FH lost his uncle to diabetes and my godfather has diabetes.... When I discussed this with my mom she was in tears with how wonderful this idea is....

I am doing donations to Michael J FOX Foundation .. FH's grnadpa had parkinsons. I will put kisses in bags and attach the tags to them.

You can buy them directly on the site. Sometimes they go on sale and you can get 100 for $80 instead of the normal $100
