I saw a very nice one up at my invite/favor place, but never opt to do it. I think it would be alittle confusing, maybe?
Its set up weird though . . .by the last names not the table numbers...
It all depends I guess on how its set up. Its very different though. But this thing I saw was very victorian, and it was on an easil. My mom was in love w/ it, but I dunno, I just opt'ed to do place cards!

Did you do it poster size? It has to be big, right, s people can see it and you dont' have people tripping over each other trying to read where they sit!

How did you make it large??

sorry, i didn't finish answering the question. i got so excited

it was ALL POSITIVE at the wedding. the negative was 'behind the scenes' when i was trying to save it as a pdf file. I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH 'COMPUTER STUFF' SINCE I STARTED PLANNING MY WEDDING

i bought an easle at ikea (dh works there... love the discounts), i also bought a large frame at big lots for only $9.99. the size of the 'opening' was about 28x23.

i created the seating chart, saved it as a pdf (to save special fonts), emailed it to kinkos. they then printed it out and put it on poster cork. i took them the frame to make sure it fit perfectly. since it was leaning on the easle, it only needed to be taped to the back.

the other bride who posted hers on the diy thread, she matted hers. i did not, only because i had a lot to fit and i didn't want to give up the precious space.

just my honest opinion i think place cards are better...even though i really like the seating chart idea only because i know some people may forget the table they are at...if they have the place card in their hand it will be easier than havin to go back to the chart.....you know what i mean when people are talking and not fully paying attention i just think havin the card would be easier

i had to switch several seats and even guests 1 day before my wedding. 2 people couldn't come, so i got a friend to bring her kids. with placecards, it was no problem, i just made new ones and replaced them at the hall. if i had had a seating chart, i would have had a disaster

I can't decide which one I am going to use Which one seems more efficient

i had a relatively small wedding. the venue was also relatively small. i didn't want to use up a lot of space with an entire table for seating cards. the easle fit perfectly by a window.

i can only speak for myself: i didn't have any problems with my seating chart. i got a lot of compliments from it. a lot of my guests said that it was fun to see their name 'framed'.
