Anyone doing WW???

Original post by Cacarina

Wanna share recipes and ideas?? I just started yesterday and its been hard, but I have been doing okay. I bought the WW cookbook and have found tons of great recipes that are easy and delicious. I have this recipe for a really great 6 point lasagna...if anyone is interested, I can share it. It really kept me full for dinner with some 0 point veggies (and I am ALWAYS hungry!)

Go onto fatsecret.com and you can do weight watchers without joining. They have recipes, message boards, and tools to track and look up your points.

I'm doing it as well...very important cut out diet soda....it definitely causes cravings and the fake sugar will have you wanting carbs. Eat lots of fiber -- fiber one cereal is a great filler for breakfast, bags of sliced apples are great to keep on hand.

I have some great WW recipes if anyone is interested. I have also taken some of my regular recipes and put them in etools, made some adjustments (like whole wheat flour, fat free cheese) and calculated the points.

Some of my favorite recipes are:

Chicken Souvlaki & tzatziki sauce (5 points)
Ginger-teryaki Lettuce Wraps (4 points)
Medetarian chicken
Potaot & pepper fritatta
spicy thai chicken w/linguini
BBQ Pulled Pork (6 points)

for football season -- pizza hot dish (5 points)

FM me if you want any recipes. FH should be so thin he eats whatever I make and loves it.

igoogle.com has a widget that calculates the WW points.

Working out will also help you lose weight faster than doing WW (or any diet) alone. You will burn calories faster because your muscles need more fuel. If you hate the gym, do other kinds of activities you like such as rollerblading, swimming, or join a sports team. I joined Club KO Kickboxing (I'm in Hoboken but there are a few in Jersey, Brooklyn, and LI) and lost 20 pounds and I am really toned. Kickboxing is one of the best cardio workouts you can do and burns about 800 calories an hour. It's a lot of fun and it is never boring because you are constantly moving and doing different things. And who doesn't like to punch and kick things? After I leave, I feel so much better which motivates me to keep going.

I also weigh myself every single morning. That also helps motivate me because I can immediately see the effect of eating well and exercising the day before. Seeing results on the scale and on my body continues to motivate me.

Anyway.... one of my favorite healthy quick meals to make is to cook onions and peppers in a nonstick pan (no oil... the moisture that comes out in the heat is enough) until they soften. Add some sliced up chicken breast seasoned with salt and pepper, 1 tsp chili powder and 1/2 tsp cumin until cooked. Add 1 rinsed can of black beans and cook until soften and at the end, add some salsa until heated through. I eat that alone but you can serve it on top of brown rice or in a whole wheat wrap. This meal is great because it has tons of flavor and a lot of protein from the black beans and chicken. Salsa is really low in calories and is also a great way to add flavor to bland food.

Women's Health Magazine did a great article on the best packaged food based on health and taste. Here is the list:
http://www.womenshealthmag.com/nutrition/premium-packaged-foods

As you can see, most of these focus on high fiber/low calorie foods. High fiber foods help keep you full longer and also help with digestion.
