Anyone else feel like they might have gone a little over their heads with the price of their wedding? I'm thinking about it and i'm like, 'geez... are we really going to be able to save that much in time for the payments?'

No, because we're being really reasonable, because I refuse to let myself get caught up in the hype. But when it all adds up I am like

Re: Anyone else?
yes, i get worried about this. Our parents are giving us about half of the money...but we still have to come up with the other half (like 25-30K).
the way we planned it out we should be able to save enough in time, but i just get so nervous that we wont have enough

Re: Anyone else?
Yesterday was the first day that I looked at a $4200 payment coming up to Danfords and for some reason it hit me how much we're spending even though FH got excessed cause his school building closed. I wanted to postpone the wedding and everyone said no, don't he'll find a job before September but Music teachers are not highly in demand. I freaked out yesterday for the first time but we haven't spent crazily or anything.

I totally feel this way too! we are spending way too much on our RH and I feel that we haven't shopped around enough for another place cause we were so set on getting married on the water and where we live. but we are shopping around like crazy and dont spend over budget on anything else. so we should be fine. still..... maybe better been to spend all of this on a down payment for an apt.

Yes and no.
My parents are paying for the wedding. When I was born, they started a long-term CD strictly for paying for a wedding for me in the future. When I got engaged, my dad finally gave the number.
Granted, I'm sure I could take this money and find much better use for it.......but it's been saving up for years specifically for my wedding

That's not our final payment. That's our 2nd to last payment to meet our minimum. Anyone over the minimum will be in cash the week of.
I keep saying to FH 'It will all work out, it always does, worrying gets you nowhere.' I'm going to say it to all the brides now too.

Re: Anyone else?
I am freaking moreso in regards to our living arrangements. We really want to get a house a few months before our wedding. We only have a little less than a year now to make sure we have enough for a down payment. We have been saving for YEARS but it's getting hard when money for our wedding is constantly being withdrawn from our savings.

my parents did something similar. as my grandparents passed away any money that my parents received they would put part of it into a CD for my wedding & some into a CD for my sister. it was a good idea however it was only around for a couple of years, a little longer would of helped out so much more.

Re: Anyone else?
We are paying for the wedding ourselves and knowing that i made a strict budget. We are coming under with almost everything. I think you have to take your time and not rush to book so that you can really get the best price and best vendors. I am going into this looking at it as one day---do i really want to be in debt for just once day?

Know what though? You don't want to feel rushed to buy and buy a house that isn't right for you. I hate our house. Everyone else our house but I just don't think it's right. Our house was purchased a year and a half ago right before the market dropped the first time. FH wanted a bachelor pad on the water so he could dock his damn boat in his front yard and look at it every day. Now we have renovated the hell out of the house and only now can we get about what he paid for it because the market changed and we've gone to open houses for the past six months or so and we could have such a nice house (bigger yard, more spacious, larger and more bathrooms) without being on the water for like 200k less but he was itching to buy so this is it for now.
You don't want to buy something just to have something and then see something you like better that was in your price range because selling is a b!tch right now and closing and real estate costs are so pricey. Hold out a little if you have to, the perfect place will come along. For us it came along when my grandfather passed away and my mom wanted to sell us their house...I grew up in that house it's amazing and they were asking like nothing but we'd already bought one and it was too soon to sell.

We're not freaking out, because we know what we can afford and what we can't. I don't see a reason to go beyond our limits for one day. I know it's a special day, one of the most special days in our lives, but we're not going to break the bank for it.
I will not be a victim of the Wedding Industry Complex. No way.

At first I was. But we've been doing a lot of saving. Luckily FH has a good job and I have a job next september so I feel more easy about the money situation.

I've thought about this too. Our RH is pricey but we've tried to get the best deals with everything else.
