Anyone else a musician?

Anyone else a musician?

Amateur or professional? I am a professional flute player, although I chose to become a music teacher for the stability. Just wondering if anyone else was musically inclined

i wish. Growing up I took piano lessons, cello lessons, and even the bells. Unfortunately none of them stuck. My sister plays the piano and the cello great!!

I had a studio on LI when I lived there, and I miss teaching my girls! I can't wait to move back in September and start up again. I have not met anyone yet in MA that is a musician, and I am in withdrawl!

I took Piano lessons for 6 years, Flute lessons for 3 (didn't really like it) violin and cello lessons for 1 year each, and voice lessons on and off for 10 years.

My problem was that I was good at whatever I picked up I just didn't enjoy anything other than the piano and especially the voice lessons.

The piano I enjoyed but wasn't crazy about practicing I would pick up the music immediately so that I was going to pieces so quickly that my teacher couldn't keep up with me ( I would go to lincoln center and hear a piece and want to play it). My parents actully pushed me too hard with it that they drove me away from it.

Singing was always my favorite though. To me it is just relaxing an plain fun.

I am--I got my BA in Music Performance in classical voice and violin. I sort of retired from music for a while because I was creatively tapped out. But..I'm planning on studying again and trying to get into the NYC opera.

I'm trying!! After studying it for so long and beating it to death-I lost all my interest and went into book publishing... But..someday-I hope I can do what I wanted! The best part about singing professionally (classical voice) is that a woman's voice doesn't fully mature until she's in her 30's! So there's time!!

I sing and play the violin. I went to Dickersons performing art school in Freeport. Now that I saw Chicago, all I want to do is sing and dance . . . .

Leelee, where did you go to school? I went to Stony Brook, couldn't afford much else, but a GREAT music program.

I played the flute for 12 years. Stopped when I went to college. Every now and then I take it out and play but it usually just sits in my closet.

Re: Anyone else a musician?

Leelee, I graduated in 2001, and then started my masters there right away for music history and theory. I got bored with the bickering of everyone during classes and decided to become a music teacher. When did you graduate?
