anyone else feeling a bit overwhelmed? (LONG)

hi girls- dont know if it the hullabaloo of the holidays..and our drive down to fla or what...
been home this week too so you think I would be all calm and relaxed....

Juliannes 1st bday party will be this sat..and we are having about 15 guests..one child. and I dont have enuf seating for all these people!
I guess some of the younger folk will need to sit on the floor of the living rm on pillows! I only have a couch and a big leather armchair...and our rocker/glider. That will seat about 6 people...kitchen has 4 chairs..and the dining rm we have 6 chairs. Thank goodness I have a butterfly table (folds up into a sidetable shape..so there is dining seating for maybe 6 more there...

good thing it is buffet
we have a lot of appetizers: mozzarella balls, bruschetta, pepperoni, provolone, salami, a few other cheeses, crackers, italian bread, shrimp cocktail, chicken wings and we boought a tray of forz apptes to heat up

Then for main food I will make 2 trays baked ziti, one small tray of eggplant parm, rob will make some salmon (for our picky eaters) and grill up some sausages.

was going to pick up a tcby bday cake (it is a block away from our house)

anmd dont you know- my washer doesnt work! wont go thru a wash cycle. turns itself off. Of course customer service was closed yesterday...called them at 8 this morning and they will send a tech TOMORROW! GREAT at least it gets fixed...but prob at the same time of my party. And Im a picky person, I wlike to watch the techs when they work on something.

oh , yeah- and we leave for our cruise next saturday. Great? yes! but Im stressing about getting us packed for it. (sheesh its only FOUR DAYS ya think I should ease up on this!)...

so im worried....rob says he may come home early today...
sorry girls- I know it seems like I am making a mountain out of a molehill...I'm a type A personality..this is the thing that will wind up killing me....
how do you all juggle and try to stay calm too?/
How do you moms of multiples do it????

I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed, but Julianne's party sounds like it's going to be wonderful.
From the menu alone, I wish *I* were invited!

Relax... it's hard juggling home/baby/holidays/AND a birthday, but it sounds like you've got it all under control.
The seating will not be an issue. People will be moving around and mingling, so not everyone will need to be seated at once, until it's time to eat, and from what you said, it sounds like everyone will have a spot.

Do not worry about having enough room. People manage. I had 25 people here and they sat to eat and then got up to make room if they saw someone standing over the table eating. I stressed too because it started snowing and the cancellations starting calling. There were 11 cancellations and it happened for a reason. It probably would have been too crowded with 35 people.

I wish you luck with the washer. You will get everything done. Wash only what you need to leave for Julianne and take on the trip. You can always do sheets, etc. when you get back.

I feel for you! We had 35 adults and 7 children under the age of 6 for the boys' first b-day! I kept panicking on where people were going to go, but I rented a bunch of chairs and everyone made due.

I give you all the credit in the world with that menu! I catered everything, and luckily my SIL and my aunt were wonderful with coordinating alot of the kitchen work during the party.

Don't fret, with family and friends the most important thing is that they are celebrating with you! No one will care if there were not enough seats! Enjoy her party -- you deserve to celebrate this past year!

Happy Birthday to Julianne!

You are doing A LOT in a short period of time. Of course, you feel overwhelmed. Just do what you can and try to give yourself a few hours 'off'.

Phyl, dont stress out, it sounds like you and hubby have it all planned out well.

People will not all be sitting at once and will be standing and mingling also.

For JA's christening, it was in March, so it wasnt a 'backyard' month (even though we DID luck out with the weather!), but in betw the church and restaurant, I had munchies here at my house since there was so much time in between. It was easily 40 people (thank God all 65 didnt come to the house ) and many of them mingled and walked around, and the smokers even went outside for a few minutes here and there....

Im sure everything will run smoothly and Julianne will have a GREAT First Birthday party!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIANNE !!!!!!!!!
