Christine - Relax and Enjoy!!! And some advice...
As a recently married bride, here are a few things to consider: At the church or ceremony - pause as you start down the aisle and look at everyone and everything. It will help to set the moment in your memory. Try to keep focused on the moment and don`t let your mind wander during the ceremony. At the reception - talk to your fiance in advance about your plans for circulating and greeting guests. We were both all over the place and I wished I`d had more time with him at the reception! It`s typical of any family event for him - he`s all over the room socializing. I wish I had more memories of the evening that included the two of us together. We should have planned to make a bit more effort to be together that evening. The only other part that was confusing and distracting the day before and day of the wedding were the little organizational details, like which usher walks who down the aisle, and who stands where, in what order, in the receiving line. If I had to organize it all again, I`d map it all out like actors on a stage, and have detailed info on who is supposed to be where, and when, for the little details like that, so I wasn`t being questioned at the moment. Maybe it`s because this was the first formal church wedding in the family in several years - we were all inexperienced at this and it was confusing! Since my parents came in from out of town, and I had organized everything, I became the focal point for all the little questions and it was a distraction that I would rather have not had. A minor point, but it did interupt the flow of things to be asked to 'leave the moment' and make silly decisions like that. Good luck and best wishes for a wonderful day!

Karen - Relax and Enjoy!!! And some advice...
Great Advice....thank from a bride getting married this weekend as well. I never really thought about the order of the receiving line...just figured the church would tell us at the rehearsal. Do you know what order everyone usually stands in?? Is everyone on one side or is the wedding party across from the groom, bride, and parents??? I have no idea but would like to figure it out now instead of on the bid day.... thanks!

Tara - receiving line
There are several ways to do it, but it's always one line, not separate sides. Check some of the bridal web sites or magazines for specifics - I know I saw the info in several places. If I recall, the short version is: Brides Mother Grooms Mother Bride Groom The fathers and rest of the bridal party circulate This is what we did, but the photographer was trying to put the Grooms mother first, and technically it should be the Host or Hostess, which is officially the Brides mother if you go by formal ettiquette. If you want the longer version I think you have: Bride's Mom & Dad Bride and Groom Groom's Mom & Dad MOH & Bridesmaids (Best Man and Ushers do not join line - they circulate) I'm not entirely sure that's the correct order... We did the short version, and it took 45 minutes for all the guests to get through the line. We had about 150 or more at the church. I'd recommend the short version so you can get on with the celebration. Most of the guests want to greet the bride and groom, not all the bridesmaids! Good luck and enjoy your day!!!

Additional advice - bouquet
A lot of brides and bridesmaids hold the flowers too high - hovering somewhere at chest level, when they should be held lower, about waist level. Point this out to the bridal party, and practice this at your reheasal so you instinctively know the angle to hold your arms. It will look better in the pictures. Be sure to point the head of the bouquet slightly outward too, instead of holding it entirely upright, so the flowers can be seen.

Best Wishes for a beautiful day. As stupid as this may sound, if your dress is not long sleeved, make sure your elbows have no dry skin

MichelleW - re: elbows!
Hi Michelle; I remember your posting about that before my wedding, and I made sure that I scrubbed and creamed my elbows for several weeks before, just to be sure! Thanks for the advice! KarenWelcome New Vendors
