I can't agree more. The stress from worrying about how we are going to come up with the money is overwhelming.

I get my moments of panic. We are doing a good job of saving up $ for the wedding, but I still worry once another vendor is booked because that more payments I need to factor in.

We have done this, and there is a huge difference between the two,
I think I might have posted before about FH's family going back and forth about helping us pay. Unless they come through in a big way, we're in BIG trouble.

I do every week..we are paying for the entire wedding ourselves so this is always on my mind with all our other bills
In the end it will all work out..I've been researching a lot to get the most for our $$

ITA. I was freaking out about money recently and FH and I re-evaluated our budget and if we stick to the savings plan we have we will be able to save enough..but it's crazy to think of alllllll the money we still have to save.

Re: Anyone else have
Oh boy..I'm with you big time! My FH and I are starting from scratch again since we used all our savings for the downpayment on our house. We basically plan to save aggressively until the day...LOT's of sacrifices in the next year and half.
My parents will contribute but they didn't give us 'a number' yet nor did we ask. We definitely won't use any gift as a reason for us not to save as much as we can. It will always come in handy.
My sacrifices so far.
-Packing lunch as often as possible. Ugh, bought a salad and water from dean & deluca yesterday - 15 bucks. Not even that great! -Lol, FH and I bought my parents a keurig coffee machine for x-mas and they got a basic model from someone else so they fave that one to us! Great investment! Now we try not to go buy coffee. 10 bucks everytime we go to starbucks! -Dying my own hair. Lol, but i will spring for professional hair for my wedding. -No frivolous shopping. Unless it's a REALLLY good sale or of absolute neccessity.

HEE HEE YES! I forgot to mention the tax returns! 8000 first homebuyer credit woo woo!
Actually, this year, much of the return will go to remodeling the kitchen but next year...it's all mine!!! I mean ours.

OMG! I stress about this every day. I am really banking on 2 nice tax returns. As long as they are as nice as last year we shouldn’t have much trouble… BUT – that’s gambling. We sat down also and went through how much we can actually save monthly.. and I have the same problem – there’s a BIG difference between the 2. Parents are helping with what they can, but it’s hard for them.

I'm sorry, I don't think I've read that post. Why are they going back and forth? It seems unfair to put you guys on a roller coaster...it shouldn't have been brought up to you guys until they came to a conclusion of yes, no, or how much.
I hope they do come through but yes, everyone's finances are different and personal.
Good Luck!

I think it's totally fine if one person can save more than the other. It doesn't mean one's putting more effort than the other - it just means they are at different points in their financial lives. That happens and it should be understood! My FH is 6 years older and he makes more than me. We contribute to a joint account that handles our bills. We don't contribute 50/50 because we don't make the same amount. We do 40/60. Our rate of savings is the same way. I really think that is fair...why should one half of a couple ever struggle?
Regarding parents- I feel the same way, my parents aren't rich but they've saved diligently throughout their lives. I feel bad 'taking' their hard earned money from them even though they say they saved it for occasions like this.

Re: Anyone else have
I seem to be the only one concerned. Our parents are helping us with the majority of the wedding, but we are still going to have to come up with like 10K. Our parents have all of these ideas about what we are going to get, but I don't think they realzie how much a wedding actually costs!
