NO idea how they are paying for the wedding?

I'm pretty much waiting for money to fall from the sky at this point

I think I might have posted before about FH's family going back and forth about helping us pay. Unless they come through in a big way, we're in BIG trouble.

I'm sorry, I don't think I've read that post. Why are they going back and forth? It seems unfair to put you guys on a roller coaster...it shouldn't have been brought up to you guys until they came to a conclusion of yes, no, or how much.

I hope they do come through but yes, everyone's finances are different and personal.

Good Luck!

Thanks! It was a whole thing, First his sister was having a big black tie wedding with 100 people, and they said they'd give us as much as they gave her. she's upstate so i thought, well that will pay for half of our wedding and we can prob get them to kick in more since we're downstate. then they were saying her wedding was onlly costing $10K total. Then she cancelled her wedding, taking that equal amounts thing off the table. Then they said 'well maybe we can give you $5-$10K and now they are saying 'oh if you need 5 or 600 here and there'...ugh BIG difference from the money we thought we'd get. It really *****.

We sat down also and went through how much we can actually save monthly.. and I have the same problem – there’s a BIG difference between the 2. Parents are helping with what they can, but it’s hard for them.

I think it's totally fine if one person can save more than the other. It doesn't mean one's putting more effort than the other - it just means they are at different points in their financial lives. That happens and it should be understood! My FH is 6 years older and he makes more than me. We contribute to a joint account that handles our bills. We don't contribute 50/50 because we don't make the same amount. We do 40/60. Our rate of savings is the same way. I really think that is fair...why should one half of a couple ever struggle?

Regarding parents- I feel the same way, my parents aren't rich but they've saved diligently throughout their lives. I feel bad 'taking' their hard earned money from them even though they say they saved it for occasions like this.

So far our wedding fund is 100% my FH. I support my mom, so I have kliterally no money left over..i only have $100 in savings, FH makes wice as much as I do, and though he has a lot of bills, he is cutting back to save money. We're both struggling even though he is the only one adding to the account at this point

Re: Anyone else have

i set up my paychecks so that a certain amount of money is automatically deposited into my wedding fund savings account. FH has done the same. this way, i dont have to think about it...the saving is automically done for me...if i had the money in my regular checking account, i would definetly spend it!

My parents deposit money in that account whenever they have extra.

The plus side of the separate account is I can easily track how much i am spending specifically on the wedding.

I have def cut back ALOT!

i pack FH and my lunch and we rarely go out to eat, usually one night per weekend. I have cut down on shopping...my poor warerobe!
I also bought a keurig and am making my own coffee at home.

I have my girlfriends over alot now instead of going to bars which is really expensive. so now we have girls night in....its actually really fun!

I also give myself manicures and pedicures...just as a little FYI- Essie's top coat 'Good to Go' makes my nails look so professional,,,,it makes me nails super shiny, doesnt chip and dries in like 60 seconds!

But i keep myself sane by telling myself that in a little over a year, i can go back to shopping, eating out, and my little luxuries!

i planted my pennies.... waiting patiently for something to sprout

we have some cut backs (i.e instead of buying clothes from VS i just create a new wish list everyday, fruity o's instead of fruit loops, heat )

OMG TALKING ABOUT CEREAL- I am really annoyed that the the no name cereal ie: fruity o's are only about 20 cents less than the name brand LOL Whats up with that.. Why is america's choice cranberry juice the same price with ocean spray?? Im tryinggggggggggg to save money here
