Actually mine are very laid back...I am lucky..and they are sweet! Only FMIL gets a little crazy, but she lives far away

Mine doesnt, she has done nothing but aggrevate me through this whole wedding process. I have had 3 run ins with her and I dont think it will stop there.

Re: Anyone else have a overly dramatic FSIL?

Oh please. My FMIL at first said she wasnt going to be in our bridal party after having a fight with her bro, then she said she never said that and she was back in. Then she gave me a hard time about the dress. The list goes on and on and on

Re: Anyone else have a overly dramatic FSIL?

I've had some interesting SIL moments:

my SIL added beading to her dress and told me afterwards! her sister (another BM) had beading so she had to too. I let them pick their own dresses, if she wanted beading, she should have gotten one with beading!!! Luckily, the beading looked nice but I was freaked out at first.

...there were numerous comments made throughout the planning about how much money we were spending. sorry she couldn't afford the wedding we had, but try and contain the jealousy please! she had some strange competition about who's wedding was more fun (even the night of our wedding she was making comparisions about how many people were dancing) - in the end she conceded that people had 'as much fun' at ours as at hers.

Generally we get along fine - she's just not used to someone else with an opinion (she's ruled the siblings for awhile).

YES!
YES!
YES!

Most recent comment: I should go to the flea market for flower girl dresses because $150 is too much to spend on a dress they will wear once!

I feel for you. But now my motto is if you cant keep your coments to yourself, I am not keeping my mouth shut. She tires me out

Re: Anyone else have a overly dramatic FSIL?

I won't have a SIL but I have an overly dramatic sister!
For example: She feels strongly about removable trains because of their convenience, I on the other hand do not care for them. It is only one night and I don't care if a long bustled train is bothersome, I love the way a bustle looks! So, long story short, when I say let's just agree to disagree, she says, 'fine, let everyone trample and destroy your dress on the dance floor, what do I care if your future daughter will never be able to wear your dress because it will be ruined.'
Does she think there will be a riot on the dance floor? Umm, future daughter? Slow down lady, who said anything about kids? And what are the chances this pretend daughter of mine would want to wear her mother's dress anyway?

Re: Anyone else have a overly dramatic FSIL?

You could have mine............let's see she waited till 6 days before the wedding to RSVP. Her adult daughter decided to bring a 'friend' instead of her baby without asking. 4 adults gave us Mikasa candle holders. Huh, go figure.
Oh & last Mother's Day she stormed out of The restaurant mid-dinner (that we booked & paid for)with all of her freeloading adult children, because her evil son showed up univited.
And she still keeps in touch w/ my husbands ex-wife.
We'll be seeing her on Turkey Day, how will I resist the urge tell her what I think of her?

I love my SIL and MIL even though the latter makes me nuts sometimes...My SIL I feel sorry for she is a homebody..she stays at home and feels sorry for herself. My BIL and SIL are twins ...(and I despise my BIL because he is the rudiest person you will ever meet ,,he is mean to his Sister, my DH and his own parents...how he has a live in girlfriend is beyond me... ) So anyway...he makes me SIL live misrable saying that she is Fat and mocks any guy that she would bring home to meet all of us....It just frustrates me

Re: Anyone else have a overly dramatic FSIL?

terrier, lisat and teri...I am laughing at all of your comments. I have the SIL and MIL. My whole wedding planning was all about drama. I have lists of stories to share. I use to be just nice to them and try to ignore it but there is only so much abuse (as I call it) one can take.

My SIL has not even called or emailed or IM'ed me to ask how my honeymoon or anything was? She only calls when I am not home..she is online all the time too! During the planning I was getting constant emails from her with her ideas and comments!

I hear she is mad at me because I told everyone to come to my house between 1 and 1:30 on my wedding day dressed and ready. That was the time the photographer was coming. It caused a huge fught between me and my DH the night before our wedding. I had ice on my eyes all night afraid of swollen eyes from crying over her and what she does to me. She did come dressed and ready but at 1:45. Then was mad that I didn't tell her that all my other BM's were upstairs at my mom's apartment. Meanwhile I was in the middle of taking pictures (she was late) and her b-friend--I didn't even see with her. Also she found out one other BM (who came early 12) didn't come dressed - she was ready just not in her dress - but she came early so it didn't matter!!!

Also, she threw a huge attitude at me at our brunch the next day because she said I didn't include her in my college picture (believe it or not we were friendly in college). She is 2 years younger and barely even says hi to the girls that I am friends with! My friends (roommates - nonetheless) asked me to take a picture withtheir cameras (like we do at all the weddings we go to) and the photographer ran over and grabbed a shot. There were a bunch of other people who went to college with me at the wedding (incl. my own brother) who weren't in the picture! Who is she to say who should be in my pictures I paid $5000 for!

Such drama..so for those two reasons I hear she is mad at me! She just has to be the center of attention (thus causing problems with BM dresses - her dress had to say WOW! she told me)! She is a very jealous person. The worse part is DH defends her too much. He started to get better but now he is back to his old ways!

Sorry so long but as you see this topic hits a cord with me!
