Anyone else have no life cause they are paying for their wedding?
I hardly ever go out with my friends anymore since FH and I can't afford it. I am so broke all the time. My friends have stopped asking us to hang out. Every now and then we get an invite and then I feel guilty for going out to dinner with them when I know we have so much more money to save for this wedding since we are paying for it ourselves. I end up feeling so guilty that I go home more upset than if I just said no to hanging out with them...but otherwise, I would never see them. This sucks....then when we go out to dinner, we order the cheapest thing on the menu, the bill gets split evenly between everyone else, and we feel so cheap asking for a separate check.....
BTW: we are going out with them tonight...but now I know FH is gonna be pissed at me for saying yes since we are both behind this month (Christmas put a big dent in our account)
Just frustrated....had to vent to someone...since no one else understands how I feel.....
ETA: I just called and cancelled on my friends. Felt too guilty going out and making FH pay for it.....

I am totally with you. We are paying for it ourselves too. We are sooo poor we didnt do the Christmas thing this year. We only got small gifts for parents and siblings not even each other. I can't wait till its over, but then well be saving for a house, then a baby, then... It never ends.

I know exactly how you feel -I hesitate everytime someone asks us to go out and do somethign I just can't see how we're going to pay for it all and keep going out and stuff-it stinks but in my opinion it will be worth it in the end..........right?!?!?!

Yep....and one of my single guy friends actually just said 'You are going to have a lot of strangers at your wedding if you don't go out until after September' I was chatting with him online and I responded 'It's looking that way, isn't it?' and signed off....I called my other friend and told her the truth...since I am tired ofmaking up excuses not to go out....there's only so many brithday dinners you can make up, ya know? She understood (she's saving for a house and her and her hubby just moved back in with her parents to save money) and told me if they decide to go back to one of the girl's houses, they would call us and maybe we could meet them there for coffee.... Just talked to FH......we both agreed it's part of the sacrifice for having a nice wedding....

Michael & I do Nothing! We did manage to go to eat last night, first time in ages......only because we had a gift certificate!
I hear ya ladies....one day it will be better!

I hear ya....all my coworkers are out at the bar right now and I'm home eating a Lean Cuisine dinner talking on LIWweddings ...(not that that's a bad thing)....but I do miss going out....I just can't justify spending the money on a night out right now...

Yep, I can totally relate - Everything has a price tag on it nowadays. I can't even tell you the last time we've been out either.

money is one thing but whats worse, I became so lazy lately, I dont want to go out anywhere... just so tired during the week that I look forward to doing nothing on the weekends

I hear ya ! Money is tight, all of our pymts are due in soon. We manage to still go out, but we just don't get crazy with the money. We managed to go to the movies lastnight only because we had gift certificates. Yeah!

we eat in all the time, and i don't go on outing with my girls like i used to because i can't afford to blow $$ on cover charges, drinks and taxis...i'll be glad went this scrimp every penny mode is over!!!

Broker than Broke here!!! Not to mention the extra bills that pop up because we have no money. I had to have a tooth pulled this week and I am still bitter about the bill. Hang on ladies we're almost there.... I think.... As far as seeing friends the few times we see them is hanging out at home, our or theirs. Out to dinner movies what's that? lol

I can so relate! Not only do we not have all the money for the wedding yet, but 'unexpected' things keep popping up! We have 17' rims and performance tires on our car, well it turns out that those are THE WORST tires in the world and they don't run on snow or ice...as a result the following happened: 1) My fiance lost control of the car because it skid and he totally fvcked up one of the doors 2) My fiance got stuck in the ice for 3 hours and it took 5 guys to get him out 3) While driving to see my best friend today one of the tires blew on the Jackie Robinson Expressway causing us to swerve violently and narrowly missing the concrete divider...thank God we're OK - but now we need an entire set of tires and rims! Almost $1K!!!! And this is a MUST (and I'm talking about factory wheels with hubcaps, not even fancy rims, we can't use the ones we have because they're 17' and we need 15')...OK - where are we going to get the money from?!
Sorry - vent over...thanks for listening...yes we are VERY broke!

I think most of us are all in the same boat! FH and I do NOTHING. Last night we took his little brother and girlfriend to the movies. We saw Hide and Seek. That is the first time (no exxageration) in 5 months that we've been to the movies. And although the movie was great I feel like $20 for an hour and half of entertainment just wasn't worth it!
All in all it will be worth it, I hope!

Ladies, do something, be creative if you have to, but find a way to keep your friends in your lives. If you cannot afford to go out to dinner all the time, save up to have an after dinner get together at your place..just serve some ships and dip and play board games...whatever!! ....or meet your friends at a diner just once in a while. If your friends care, they will want to see you even if it is not at some fancy restaurant. Make time for them, and spend less on your wedding if you really have to. Getting married and losing touch with friends should NOT go hand in hand!!!!

Update: I just got home from hanging with my friends! ....after explaining our situation earlier on the phone to my friend, she mentioned it to the others at dinner and they cancelled their movie plans to hang out with us at my friend's house....they all actually said it was more fun than the movies because we actually talked all night...it was fun ....every now and then those BM's of mine suprise me The best part...it was FREEEEEE! WOOHOO! j/k...it was nice to see them....I miss my friends..
