I don't think she is being supportive about it. Your party is the one thing you have absolute control over. My aunt was hinting that my sisters should all be in my fiancees party. It's her decision and I agree with her choices. Guests are the one thing that is tricky. I don't want to invite my sister and brother and I know there will be hell about it. I don't need to worry about them trying to show me up or adding drama. My two cousins aren't going to be the best man. My aunt will flip. I chose my best friend. It's unfair to ask me to choose between my two cousins, each has been there when the other wasn't but to choose one over the other will create deep resentment between them. Even if they say it's ok.
Best Wishes,
Thomas

yup I got one of those, except she's not my friend she is my younger sister. The second I got engaged, she has been pressuring her BF (of only one month, at that time) for a ring. It has become so ridiculous, that I took the MOH title away from her and now am even debating whether or not I want her at my wedding.

Re: Anyone else have REALLY JEALOUS 'friends' ??
I have this friend who wants to get married so bad! Sometimes she is the best friend but other times she is a jealous monster! One of FH's sisters is also very jealous. She makes comments all the time that they 'go in order' in her family and that she 'never thought her younger brother would be married before her' (he is only 1 year younger). She has been with her current boyfriend for like 9 years and has always said they she doesn't have to get married that they are already basically married, but ever since we got engaged she won't stop talking about how she was suppossed to be next! She says it jokingly but it makes me uncomfortable!

Re: Anyone else have REALLY JEALOUS 'friends' ??
Confession--I was the crazy friend last yaer.
We hadn't wanted to get engaged, but put it off, because of grad school, a death in the family, anotehr firends wedding, and then jsut when things seemed quiet, these 2 announce they were getting married.
And they are good friends, but they kept saying how great everyting was going to be, so it drove me mad.
I distanced myself & planned a vacation so i didn't have to go to the shower & bachelorrette party ( i'm closer to the groom anyway)
I know I cold have been more supported, but I tried not to be mean.
As much as you want you friends to be happy for you, other people's weddings can be difficult for some people-- I think I have a freiend that is going to through that now. We aren't that close, so I am not gettign weirdness from her, but we are in the same circle, and I think it is tough on her, b/c her BF is very non-commital & she keeps getting the 'you guys will be next ' comments from our friends. I try not to say that to her & cringe when others do. I think its a big issue for them, & I'd hate to think my wedding is making it worse.

at least im not alone!!! thanks everyone for your responces... People keep telling me ' well now you learn who your real friends are' and to cut her out of my life... honestly Ive been through soo much with her that I cant just do that.. maybe she'll come around as the wedding gets closer.. Its really hard b/c Im not really a jealous person.. esp. when it comes to my friends .. im just happy for them. But she'll be in the spotlight too one day.. maybe i'll act like this when she gets married so she knows how it feels! lol just kidding.

You said it perfectly!! I am struggling with this right now and I don't know how to deal. Do I just carry on (like its nothing), or reverse the treatment one day when she is in my shoe's? It is always hard when it is a good friend. Weddings bring out the worst in people!! I think the best way to deal with the situation is to let time take its course; and DEFINITELY not let it put a damper on the wedding!!

You also have to keep in mind that while I am sure your friends ARE really happy for you, they are not going to be as excited or caught up in every single detail of the wedding.
It's natural for the brides to be consumed with the planning, just as it's natural your friends won't be as consumed.
I was careful to not only talk about the wedding and usually, it was only when they asked did I get into it. My friends could care less about appointments with photographers or invitations, etc.
I am sure when the wedding is closer their enthusiasm will return.

Christine - I know exactly what you mean! I try really hard not to talk about it alot unless its brought up.. but usually when you sit and talk about whats going on... well right now for me thats most of what going on.. I was just esp. annoyed when I wrote that post b/c we were in the middle of a conversation on aol.. when I told her I got that swarovski tiara and sent her a pic to get her opinion - shes like oh its nice - Gotta go talk to you later bye ( WTF!??!?) LOL

Re: Anyone else have REALLY JEALOUS 'friends' ??
My 'friend' was engaged for almost 2 years before I got engaged. When my engagement was announced and we had set the wedding date, she started planning everything around my wedding date . She told one of my cousins that she was going to do it a week after mine, and my cousin flat out told her that she's crazy, cause the family wouldn't be able to afford 2 weddings back to back. Now she's changed her mine, and still hasn't booked anything. Her mom is always calling my mom too see what we've booked and my mom always says the same thing. Don't they get the point?

totally agree...
sometimes one may substitute 'jealousy' for one's own bridezilla actions - not to say this is the case for Soon2bMsZ, but something that we all should keep in the back of our minds, especially if the enthusiasm was once there and now has vanished...

Re: Anyone else have REALLY JEALOUS 'friends' ??
I have a friend who's been dating a guy for about 5 or 6 years and they are older than us and they aren't engaged, so I feel that when I got engaged, she wasn't that happy for me since she wasn't yet. Also I haven't really spoken to her since...

Re: Anyone else have REALLY JEALOUS 'friends' ??
I have the opposite. My friends are all really supportive and the one who is obsesses with having a boyfrend and getting married is my Maid of Honor. She is so into planning the wedding, choosing dresses, centerpieces, etc it's crazy. It is like my wedding is her dress rehearsal for hers someday. My only problem is keeping my mom from becoming the wedding hitler.
My only advice to you is to remember that it is your wedding and if someone is giving you a hard time then do whatever it is you have to do to make sure that your day is perfect for you and your sweetie.
