Anyone else having problems with housebreaking?

Coco is five months old already and he still is not housebroken. He sometimes will go to the wee wee pad by himself. But half the time he will pee and poop somewhere else. I have been crate training him and it's not really working. I take him twice in the morning then he's in the crate, at 12:00 then 1;00 he's back in the crate, then 3:00 and so on. I really praise him, use the clicker, give him yummy treats. Yesterday I found poop in my bedroom(which I keep the door closed all the time) Today my dad told me that he walked off the wee wee pad to pee on the carpet ( He was too fast for my dad and he couldn't catch him on time )This is so time consuming and I feel like he will never learn. I'm ready to give up on him.

Try using the lease tecnique when he isn't in his crate. Tether him to you with a leash. That way, he has to be with you and you can scoop him up when he tries to go to the bathroom. Remember lots of praises when he goes outside but no scolding when he has an accident.

my pug is 1 yr old and still has accidents I know what you are going thru, I have tried everything, the best thing is to tether but that can be very annoying, you would have to have you dog with you everywhere
