personally, we are invited our single friends with guests but I def understand the rational of not...especially if they are in the BP. And you are 100% right, they will understand when their time comes!!!!!!!
people that have never planned a wedding have no idea how expensive it is

Re: Anyone else having this problem?
its the opposite for me, all of FH's friends are married and my friends arnt, so I told him friends in advance that we're paying for the wedding ourselves so if they're single they cant bring a date. It might have been tacky of me to say it to them but they're my closest friends and they know I'm a struggling student so they understood.

ehh i dont really think it matters...you do what you can afford to do. FH was invited to a wedding recently, no guest, and we're ENGAGED!!! i didn't really think twice, i just thought 'i guess they can't afford it!' OR 'i guess FH was on their B-list' hahah
people will get over it.!!!!

i feel that if you are over 18 you should be invited with a guest which is what i am doing. but i would hope that if someone doesnt have a gf/bf they will not just bring some random person just for the sake of bringing a date.

Re: Anyone else having this problem?
Before I even started planning a wedding, I always knew that it's so crazy expensive these days. So I totally understood when my friends would invite people without a guest if they knew the person wasn't dating anyone.
The way I've always looked at it is if someone is dating someone, then invite them with a guest. But if they're single come invite time, I don't think you should feel obligated to invite them with a guest.
I remember some of my single friends getting annoyed in the past about not getting a guest invite even though they were single. But it was dumb cause they knew so many people at the wedding - it was our whole group of friends.
If there were some people I was inviting who I thought might not know that many people, then I'd extend the guest invite, even if I knew they were single. Cause I'd want them to come the wedding and be able to bring someone who could help them feel comfortable. But if I know it's a person who has a ton of friends already going to the wedding, I figure they should be ok.
Plus, if I was single, I'd prob rather go to a wedding without a guest so I could keep my options open for being able to possibly meet someone!!!
Is there anyway your FH could explain to the friends how it's too expensive to invite every person with a guest? And then if he could maybe throw it out there to them like oh why do you want to bring a guest anyway, wouldn't you rather be by yourself so you can have fun and don't have to babysit a date all night, or so you can maybe pick up some girls?

Re: Anyone else having this problem?
We are pretty young. Most of our friends are single (not seeing anyone), some are in serious relationships and one will be married (as of 2 weeks before our wedding). If we invited everyone with a guest it would add like 50 people to our guest list.
We're inviting people with guest if they are in a serious relationship -- which is up to our discretion. We dont want to make people feel like they need to bring someone random to our wedding. Plus, there will be so many single people that they can mingle with eachother!
If we were older and a significant number of our friends were married, in long relationships, etc we might do things differently. I wouldn't want to make someone the lone single guest (same thing with the bouquet toss -- we're going to do it because we'll only have one married friend out of MANY)
I'm not anticipating having many problems but we'll see. I did have a friend ask if she could bring her bf to our e-party. We had a luncheon and didn't invite anyone with guests, except for one of my BMs who is in a long relationship and I'm friends with her boyfriend. I found out she had just started dating this guy a week earlier and they weren't even officially a couple, so I told her no. If they are still together when the wedding rolls around we'd consider inviting him
