Anyone else having this problem?

Anyone else having this problem?

FHs friends that are single are not being invited with a guest:

1- because I cant afford to give everyone a guest and

2-because I don't wnat them bringing an animal to my wedding..

FHs friends are giving him a really hard time.. am I alone?

sometimes I want to say when you have to pay for your wedding you will understand why you couldn't have a guest drives me crazy

* when I say single I do not mean not married I mean do not have a giflfriend or even someone they are dating

Re: Anyone else having this problem?

I have seen some of my married friends have this problem when they got married.

Me and my fh feel that if you are over 18 you should be invited with a guest. Not everyone feels that way and it is your wedding and you are entitled to do whatever makes you happy. But just try and picture if you were single and not given the option, you might feel the same way as them.

Good luck

I totally see where you are coming from but since I have been in this sitaution I thnk I would honestly understand.. It really comes down to us already having 225 people and not being able to afford to giev everyone a guest

we're not allowing our single friends to bring dates unless they dont know anyone that will be there. all of fh's friends know each other for years so they'll be happy sitting at a table together, with or without a date.

We're not inviting everyone 18+ with a guest, because we simply can't afford to. But, does FH think his friends would be more comfortable if they were able to bring a guest? I'm not inviting my college friends +1, but FH is inviting his friends with a guest. In the end I think it depends on what you want and can afford and if you can swing it, what would make your guests comfortable too.

That's what we did, too.

We're not inviting all of our single friends with guests. But in our situation, FH's group of friends have been friends since they're little...same with my group of friends. No one there will feel alone or 'dateless', they have each other. This is the way it's been at our other's friends weddings as well and none of the 'single' people ever took issue with it....it's just another night out with their friends and everyone has a great time.

I wouldn't sweat it, they're big boys, they'll be fine.

I think its your wedding, if you can not afford to have single friends with guests, then you need to just stand your ground.

I also know about single friends bringing animals to weddings, its ridiculous and its your day, you do not need these freaks ruining it on you.

I'm really torn on this situation as well. On the one hand, I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable being alone at the wedding. I do feel that if someone is over 18 they should be invited with a date. On the other hand, we were at a wedding a few months a go where one of Fh's friends was invited with a date and brought one only because he was invited with one. He knew her from childhood but they haven't spoken in a really long time and he recently ran into her and then invited her to the wedding. ps, he didn't speak to her the whole night and she sat talking to me and my FH because we were the only people that introduced ourselves to her. Now I don't know if I want to pay X amount of dollars for someone that the guest hardly even knows

We are giving guests to our single friends, but most of them have significant others anyway so it's really only like 5 ppl, and most I'm not expecting to actually bring someone. We did have the problem with FH's cousins though (he has over 50 first cousins, and we're inviting them all!)....we decided if they are 21+ and have a significant other, they will get a guest. If not, too bad....I don't think it will cause too much drama but we'll see!

lol, the way you worded this is funny. It sounds like you're supplying them with guests

Re: Anyone else having this problem?

We were initially planning on only allowing guests when:
a.) the person had to travel from out of town
b.) they were in a serious relationship (e.g.: married, living together, engaged, or seriously dating).

However, when it came down to it there were about 2 people who didn't fall into those categories...so we just let everyone have a +1. However, we probably won't have too many guests.

I think it's your right to invite/not invite who you want. I wouldn't make excuses at all--you don't need to justify your wedding to other people (despite the fact they think you do).

Everyone says try to picture yourself if you were invited without a guest. If it was a wedding where I hardly knew anyone then it would be weird but your boyfriends friends know EACHOTHER. A few of FH's friends were giving him a hard time and some of them who had girlfriends that couldnt make it were trying to bring someone other than their girlfriend so its been a real pain. They agreed to come alone after I told them some of my female cousins werent coming with dates. They know eachother, its not like theyre not gonna have anyone to hang out with. They have to understand if you cant afford it.

yes there are about 11 of them that dont have even a gf in their lives.. so i dont know why they are complaining. and in the past they brought girls to other peoples weddings and didint talk to them all night think they are just trying to give me STRESS

Thats another thing!!! I told FH to tell his friends, if they bring a stranger that doesnt know ANYONE, theyre gonna have to babysit this person. They wont be able to leave them alone and they'll have to be near them all night. I think this sealed the deal for some of his friends because after he mentioned that they said they didnt want to bring a guest.

personally, we are invited our single friends with guests but I def understand the rational of not...especially if they are in the BP. And you are 100% right, they will understand when their time comes!!!!!!!
