Anyone else keep changing their mind about the HM?

Anyone else keep changing their mind about the HM?

I really don't know what's wrong with me because I've changed my mind about where to go on our HM a million times already! I am SO lucky that FH is pretty much leaving me in charge of deciding where to go (he's been alright with all of my ideas thus far). Here are my past choices:

1. Italy - Italy is the only place in Europe I've been to and I loved it SO SO much. I stayed in Rome for a few days and Bologna for two weeks, and it was unbelievable. But we'll be getting married in August, which isn't really the best time to travel to Italy. And I wanted to do something that I haven't done before, so it made sense to travel to Italy sometime else. This would probably cost about $6-7k when all is said and done.

2. Australia + New Zealand - FH went to Australia and New Zealand for two weeks on a school trip in high school and absolutely loved it. I've never been, and it looks beautiful. We ditched this idea because the travel time would really subtract from our vacation (FH has a very limited amount of days to take off from work, and we have other weddings next year that he'll have to take off for, so there would be no way that we could possible go for more than two weeks which is what I would have wanted to do for Aus/NZ. I'd estimate two weeks in Australia/NZ, including flights, to be AT LEAST 10k.

4. Australia + Fiji - This would allow us to relax a little, it seems absolutely gorgeous, and neither of us have been to Fiji. I'd estimate the same as Australia + NZ.

5. Mediterranean cruise on the Norwegian Epic to two locations in Italy and two in France. It's a 7 night cruise leaving out of Barcelona, so I wanted to stay 2-3 nights in Barcelona and 4-5 in Paris. The cruise itself would probably be around $2600 if we got a balcony room, plus approx $800 each for flights, plus hotels and food in Barcelona and Paris...so I would approximate the cost at around $7k total (we'd be getting a lot for what we'd be paying, but it's still a lot of money!!)

6. Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico - I was browsing the boards here and saw SO many positive reviews for EPM. And the rooms are absolutely gorgeous!! I never planning on doing an all-inclusive for my HM, but EPM makes it SO tempting! Beautiful resort, food sounds amazing, and excursions seem like they'd be really fun! And it seems significantly cheaper than any of the options.

Opinions? I know I have a lot of time to book the HM, but it's so exciting start planning. It will definitely be my favorite thing to book!

I am in a similar boat! He is pretty much leaving it all up to me. FH is a teacher and has the summer off, but I dont. I probably can take 2 weeks but that is including the Friday before my wedding too. Wish I had the summer off!

My ideas are:

1. Mediterranean Cruise and 2-3 nights in the port city. I did browse cruises and liked the same one you do. I also estimated $7k or so for this trip.

2. Hawaiian Cruise and 2-3 nights in Honolulu (port city) either before or after the cruise. I estimated this to be closer to $8k, but it would likely cost even more with excursions and liquor on the ship.

3. An island or Mexican vacation at an All Inclusive, purely to save $$.

I figure I am going to wait until maybe Nov/Dec and then focus more on it, once I see just how much more money is pouring out of my pocket/ bank acct for the wedding. Stinks to not be wealthy! lol

Agreed, it's tough not being rich!

Hawaii also crossed my mind for a bit, and while I do want to go there at some point, if I'm spending over 7k I'd prefer to go to Europe or out east (Japan, China, Indonesia..)

We haven't even started talking about HM yet, I think its cause we know we will have to put it off in the long run and don't wanna come to terms with that yet

originally we wanted to go back to Jamaica or Aruba but now our friends are getting married in Jamaica a few months before us so I think our HM money is gonna have to be put to there DW

we still have a pipe dream that we will get to go somewhere, hell i'll be happy with fla or something lol

We were thinking about Italy, the South of France or Greece, we decided on Greece! We haven't booked yet but thats for sure where we are gonna go.

I think it depends on what you want from your honeymoon. Places like Mexico, Jamaica St Lucia are all great if you want to lay on the beach with frozen drinks and just relax. (which is WONDERFUL)

We wanted something that mixed laying on the beach, and some culture. My thinking is we will probably go to many beach resorts in the future, but Greece seems like an adventure and not something we would normally do (we work a lot and getting 2 weeks off is something that very likely wont happen again for a long time) Were going to island hop and do half hotels, and half apartment rentals. I want to spend a few days there just living in the town and experiencing what life is like there and all.

Thats just us though! figure out what you think works best for you guys!

I am in the same boat! I know I want to do adult only all inclusive resorts. Sandals is out because its way to expensive to get a decent room.

The two I was flipping back and forth on was Secrets and Excellence. I think that I settled for Playa Mujeres for that rooftop room. Still I am not 100% sure.

Are you going through a travel agent? If you are, could you FM me the quote they gave you for that room? That's the one I was looking at, too. I love the idea of having a private pool. At Sandals, it would cost double the amount, so that's out of our budget, too.

I haven't gone to a travel agent yet, but I will just to compare the online prices. It's still too early to get flights for the dates I want to go so I'm just waiting for that. There are some brides who said that they got some excursions thrown in for free or at a cheaper price when booking with a TA. I'll let you know when I start looking.

for those of you looking at resorts look at Breezes. We stayed their last year for our vacation in Jamaica and it was sooo nice and really affordable. We stayed for 8 days and ithink we payed about 2500 for both of us

We talked about Hawaii at first then we switched it to St.Lucia, but I wasn't thrilled about going there. So now were back to Hawaii. We picked the hotels we want to stay at and all we have to do is save a little more money then we can start booking.

I went back and forth a million times on where to go and ultimately decided on Antigua.

Re: Anyone else keep changing their mind about the HM?

we are still undecided....

Of course Hawaii was an option but FH hates flying so the thought of a 3279426 hour flight has been making us think of other ideas

Then we started looking for caribbean cruises but didn't come up with anything good out of NY

Now we are looking into Turks & Caicos.

No matter what, we agreed we wanted an all inclusive so we don't have to worry about bringing too much $$$

totally in the same boat. keep flip flopping between tahiti and maldives but concerned that we might get bored after a few days. would like to have the same mix of relaxation and culture. hadn't thought of fiji/australia but that could be a great combo.

I had to check out that resort after reading about it on this thread. It is BEAUTIFUL and really reasonable considering what is included!!
