Anyone else NOT a fan of New Year's?

Original post by franksbride

Not that I have anything to be sad about this year...but I usually find New Year's Eve/Day to be depressing.

I used to love it to go out, I'd be in the clubs, have the breakfast they served included in the $100 cost to get in. I'd get home at 7 am.

For so many it's amateur night.

Now I'd much rather be at home with my DH and family & close friends.

Nora- so sorry to hear that

I've never really been a fan, We always usually go to a friends party but this year DH is working and I dont feel like going there myself even though they told me to so I think I will go stay at my moms or just stay home

I never really got too excited about it. DH is working Las Vegas this year so we won't be together for our first new years as a married couple. I really don't mind though - I'm sure I'll have fun hanging out with friends.

I think there is so much pressure to do something cool on New Years Eve. I hate driving that night and finding something to do. No one can decide it always causes a huge issue, etc.
Plus New Years Day is my dad's birthday so we always have to do something the next day, I can't just lie around and be a vegetable.

It doesnt depress me, I just dont get all that excited on New Years.

Same here... this year DH and I decided to stay home. It's our first in our new house and we've opted for PJ's, snacks and **** Clark (lol, should I say Richard Clark??), I can't wait!

Nora, I'm very sorry about your sister!

As for NYE -- it always depressed me, especially when everyone made such a big stink over it and if you had no plans, they made you feel like a big loser!!! I'd rather spend the evening home with my family.

Nora, sorry to hear about your sister.

I too don't get excited about doing anything for New Year's for the following reasons

* Don't do clubs anymore - been there, done that when I was in college
* Don't want to spend 100 bucks pp for dinner at a hotel with a bunch of people I don't know
* I HATE crowds, especially when people are drinking

I much rather invite some friends over, make drinks, play cards and eat dinner.

I have always disliked new years eve with a passion!

I always cry at midnight and that damn song...UGH!!!!!

I think my sadness stems from the fact that my dad was never home on new years, he was a nyc detective and always had to work but would call at midnight on the dot and I would be so sad that he wasnt with us to ring in the new year. To me it also symbolizes moving on from things and people who crossed our paths that year..like this year, its so sad because our stepdad wont be with us. I am not looking forward to it at all.

Im hoping that by midnight im so wrecked, I dont even know whats happening, we all deserve that once in a while. I stay home and host, open door thing, I really dont invite anyone specific, anyone who wants to pop in does and this way I dont have to worry about being out on the roads which scares me to death!

I have always NOT cared for New Years.
This year I probably won't even stay up for the ball to drop. (I'm preggy and don't know if I'll be able to keep my eyes open.zzzzzzzzzz)
