We spoke with our Babquet manager and he told us that menus were basically a waste of time and paper...no one ever keeps them, they all just end up in the trash. So FH and I decided not to do them....are we alone

For me it was worth it. My friend was nice enough to make them for me and they came out great. I was glad to have them because I didn't want the waiters to have to repeat the entree choices a ton of times and also I wanted guests to know there'd be a V Hour so they'd stick around for it since my wedding ran so late. So for me I feel it was important.
But as a guest at a wedding, I wouldn't care whether there was a menu on the table or not. So it's not really necessary!!!! Don't feel bad about skipping it!!!!! I skipped pretty much every other DIY item you can think of and I don't regret it.

If your RH has them, there's no real point... focus on other things, like relaxing!
It's one less thing to stress about.

It is not imperative that you have them. The only reason why we had them was that some of our guest do not speak English that well and a few were a bit older so to make it easier and not have the wait staff wouldn't get frustrated the guest could ask their tablemates to translate what was what and then they could point out what they wanted. They don't have to be elaborate. At Michael's they have small menu cards that are 25 for $4.99 which you can print them yourself.

I didnt do them-I felt they were a waste b/c the servers tell you what the choices are anyway

I'm doing them but just 2 per table. I already have a package of like 500 sheets of ivory cardstock, so it wasn't a big deal. I'm wasn't expecting people to keep them though, I don't care if they get thrown out afterwards!
