Anyone else not doing or didn't do DIY menus??

We spoke with our Babquet manager and he told us that menus were basically a waste of time and paper...no one ever keeps them, they all just end up in the trash. So FH and I decided not to do them....are we alone

im not doing them either. i figure this is the one DIY i dont need. the only thing i would do different than my hall is add my monogram, and id rather pay attention to something else.

I wanted to do them -- but Lombardi's won't allow you to bring in your own menus, we were told they are really picky with them cause they don't want you to mispell things and such -- so instead we could pay for them to print their own for each guest which I didn't like for just put a framed on each table. We went for the free framed menus it just made things easy.

No we didnt do them either- to be honest once you are married you will realize that all the little extras dont matter at all. Honestly!!! No one is going to remember the menus!!!

good luck!!!

I did them, but I went to a wedding with beautiful menus on Saturday night AND after we ordered the waiter just took them away! I turned to my finace and was like, 'they don't leave them on the table!' So don't worry if you didn't do them!

We aren't doing them either. I have seen gorgeous DIY menus, but we just didn't think it was worth it to spend the time and money.

You're so right -- I have seen so many times where the waiter takes the menus so fast -- and me I like to save stuff like that and the menus are gone before you even know it.

I am not doing them. They are provided for us from my hall. In my own opinion I don't think people take a lot of time looking at it and thinking wow look how nice they made this.

I am so glad you posted this - I too do not think I want to do - just another thing to worry about, along with baskets in the bathroom...

I am planning on doing menus, just doing one or two per table, not one for each place setting.
I am also making sure to order one for MY table, so that I can keep it.

I like the fact that guests can read what is being offered instead of having the waitperson repeat it all around the table. It is an extra touch that I do remeber from the weddings I have been to over the years.
A small expense, but I feel worth it.

Dont worry your not alone!!
IMO they are just that....a waste of time and money. Like he said, they will just get thrown out anyways!!

No, our hall provided the menus for the guests. It was another project I didn't want to get involved with. I would agree, a waste of time and money....and ppl will most likely leave them. You know how many favors were left at my wedding?! I was furious.

I'm also doing 2 per table, for a total of 30. They will be on the reverse side of the table numbers, just for reference. I wouldn't bother printing one per person. I'm cutting them out tonight, actually.

our hall offers framed menus (two per table) - we're using them, not DIY...

i think unless you have like 10 entrees its a waste of time... but i had a ton time on my hands so it wasnt a big deal for me
