anyone else on here not having an eparty? our families are so big we would feel bad inviting some but not others, so we are not going to have one. Plus, we really need to save our money. we will prob just do a small gettogether with the bridal party.

we didn't have one either. its nice if someone else is paying, but for us to pay for that & the wedding by ourselves was just unrealisic. oh well, no big loss.

Re: anyone else not having an eparty?
Yeah we also are having a long engagement, which is why I didn't feel so bad about having the party (we didn't throw it anyway, our parents did). Afterwards though I felt a little bad because people were sooooo generous, I felt awful accepting that much money as gifts when I know people have to give shower and wedding gifts as well. But we are both the first ones in our families to get married and pretty much the first of our friends and everyone is just so excited for us and so excited for the party. Plus my father passed away unexpectedly a few years ago and my family's financial situation changed dramaticaly so I think that also contributed to the generosity especially on my side.

I didn't have one. I couldn't afford it, and I have enough planning to do already for the wedding. It would have been nice though (if someone else did all the work for it lol)
You know what it can be very stressful planning both at once-VERY!!!! lol. Not only are we planning both and booking vendors for both and paying installments for both at the moment, but we are also not having a small e-party...Our list was at 180 but i brought it down but not by much, we invited 160 guests. I've been saying OMG i can't wait until after february when our e-party is over, it will take alot of stress away.

We had one but it was more of an excuse to get the family together. We just had a big bbq in the back yard.

we didn't have one but i wish we could have had a little something. i would have just wanted to do something small at my house but everything was so busy around the time we got engaged so we didnt. at the time we didnt want one but looking back i wish we celebrated getting engaged with everyone.

We didn't have one...we figured we were getting married in just under a year, and we were also dealing with a family crisis...which would have been the only reason we would have had it...i find it a bit obnoxious unless you are having a LONG engagement OR your family makes you celebrate (JMO, no offense!)

Re: anyone else not having an eparty?
We didn't have one because we had gotten engaged last May during a cruise that FH took me on to celebrate me completing my masters degree. My mom had already planned this huge party for my graduation that was two weeks after we got home, so we didn't want to have too many parties. Some people gave us gifts for both occassions that day though. It would have cost way too much to have both and it's not like I could change my graduation into an engagement party with such short notice. People told me not to have a combo one since they felt that would have been tacky.

Re: anyone else not having an eparty?
we didn't either... we're also not having bachelor(ette) parties. Our rehearsal dinner will be under 10 people too.....
Obviously, we're rather low key people.... there are too many events in a NY wedding for us to handle.

Re: anyone else not having an eparty?
I'm in the minority, probably, but I don't think it's in good taste to have both an e-party and a shower. I know, the bride does not really get involved with planning the shower, but most brides do know whether there will be one. If the engagement will not be very long, then it is even more important not to bombard people with so many occasions for which they have to buy a gift and possibly maneuver their schedules. If the engagement will be long, then I can see wanting a get together b/c it will be a long time before the wedding celebration.
I did not have an e-party. I had a big shower and a big wedding.
