anyone else on here not having an eparty? our families are so big we would feel bad inviting some but not others, so we are not going to have one. Plus, we really need to save our money. we will prob just do a small gettogether with the bridal party.

We did not have one - none of our friends / family have had one. I didn't want one.

We had a reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaally small lchaim at one of our officiant's houses. It was 15 people. Nothing huge, and i don't think anyone would classify it as an engagement party.

We didn't have one. Would've loved to but we couldn't afford it, it really wasn't a big deal.

I hear ya... you dont have to
we did and we had the best time.
plus our families were very generous!
same here!! we are using the money we made toward the wedding
Ditto, i am going the same week to the RH and this way we dont have to worry about an installment for a little while.

Re: anyone else not having an eparty?
We didn't have one. We got engaged the day before his cousin's engagement party and the summer was coming to a close and then in the winter we only had a week so it just didn't seem to fit. Plus we've been together for so long our families know each other already so it just seemed silly to us.

Yes, BP, and literally immediate fmaily, I would do....Not everyone has e-parties, but alot of people to. But it is aimportant to save money for the wedding and such, but on another note, if someone throws u and FH an e-party, its a start to ur savings, ya know? Its not a mandoratory thing, its just nice. But do something small. Our e-party only had about 50-60, and Dh's side is pretty big, bigger than mine, but my Future in laws threw the party and it wss nice for me and Dh, gift-wise, then we opened a savings account together and started saving for things we knew we had to pay for.... if you want to do it, even maybe, do it small, and cater some food at someone's house! but don't feel obligated, its ok if u dont have one! :) we also had ours alittle over 4 months after we got engaged [which isn't bad] due to dh's nephew [1 years old] passing away 2 days after we got engaged, so it was definitely not a good time to do it any earlier than when we had it. . . . hth!

Re: anyone else not having an eparty?
We did not have one because we were only engaged for 5 months, however I don't think I would have had one anyway. Both of our families are so big (at least 60 people on each side that we would have HAD to invite plus our friends), it would have been like a wedding. So we are happy we did things the way we did.

I also have a short engagement (9 months)... but I don't think we would have had an engagement party even if we were engaged longer. I didn't want one and my parents do not like them.

We didn't have one. We felt bad making people give us so many gifts in a short amount of time.

OUr engagement is 22 months long-so theres plenty of time in between. Even after our eparty there is still 15 months until our wedding

Re: anyone else not having an eparty?
I didn't have an eparty. I kind of feel bad having one because then people feel obligated to buy you a gift. It's a lot of money for people to buy you an engagement gift then a shower gift then a wedding present.

I didn't have one. I couldn't afford it, and I have enough planning to do already for the wedding. It would have been nice though (if someone else did all the work for it lol)
