Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
I definitely am NOT registered for Fine china.
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
I am in the same boat. I feel like I don't need it, and everyone is telling me I am going to be sorry.

The way I see it is it depends on what type of person you are... if you are the type of person that entertains a lot, then you would probably want it (if not now than later). Fine china is really the type of thing you wouldn't get for yourself down the road so better to get it now.. but if you don't entertain- then you really don't need it.
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
I wish I didn't register for it. Junebride04 brought me all of my China setting and I am very thankful for having a wonderful friend like her that would do that. But regret it a little just because they are just sitting in the closet in a box. Hopefully one day I will take them out to use them but I do not see that day coming for a long time, probably until I buy a house. Lets see.

We aren't registering for china either. My mom offered me my grandfather's set (who passed away recently). FH and I decided we'd rather have a set that was in the family especially coming from my grandfather.
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
I didn't! We've never really lived together... There are going to be so many other things we REALLY NEED, vs. china we probably won't ever use. We figured when we buy a house, we'll just buy it for ourselves if we really want it!

Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
We did not, did not think I would ever use them, I think sometimes people register for them just b/c it is expected. I think something like that is so very rarely used that I think it is a waste. IMO I live life that way, why get something if I am so afraid to use it or enjoy it.
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
I didn't register for fine china, but rather casual china, which is a little more fancy compared to my everyday dishes, it's less expensive than fine china, so that's another option.
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
I don't think you need to... if you can see yourself as being someone who will give dinner parties or even host a Thanksgiving dinner, then I would YES, get china. I'm personally not registering for china, since my grandmother is givng me hers, but if that weren't the case I would register for it anyway. I practically live in my kitchen and really love to cook, so I know that it's something I would use in the future. My sister, on the other hand, can barely boil water, so she's not going to register for china. There is no right or wrong, here... completely up to you!
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
i'm not and feel no need to. do what you want to do and not what others tell you 'you will need.'

Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
We're not, but that's because I have a box of my grandmother's china sitting in my closet and another box at my father's. I certainly don't need 3 sets of china!
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
Well I have thought about not registering for china....we will most likely be in an apartment. So who is going to have room for it. I'd hate to see something that cost so much sitting in a box in my only closet.
Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
We registered for it, but if you don't see yourself using it, don't register for it. I know it's a big purchase, but if you come to a point in the future where you feel as though you 'need' it, you can buy it for yourself.
