I registered for everday dishes, but I just don't think fine china is necessary for me and would rather receive some other things that we need. My friend is insisting though that I 'NEED' them...

Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
We aren't ... but I do have my Nana's fine China from like the 30's or 40's (my great grandma). I guess that made my decision easier. We will use it MAYBE once a year, so this will suffice.
but to be honest...they cost as much as the formal...villeroy & boch and lindt & stymeist

I'm not - just some really nice 'casual china' (i think it's called) by Royal Daulton. I'm not a china and silver person.

Didn't register and do not regret it one bit. Nobody told me that I should - I think it's a more of a different generation that sees it as a 'must.'
I'm not a fancy person, and even if I were to have company or a dinner party I'd rather it be casual.

Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
I am definitely NOT registered for fine china. What would I do with it? Besides, we live in the city in an apartment, I'd have to store it in the basement or something!
We registered for everyday dishes, everyday items and our honeymoon. Besides, there were tons of things we can register for, and there's only 50 people coming to my shower...I'm sure they'll have more than enough to buy.

Re: Anyone else NOT registering for fine china???
I really never thought I'd register for china, but FH & I have lived togethr for almost 7 years & basically its the only thing we don't have(I work in off $ retail & get the best bargains!). We only registered for china, crystal, & a few small appliances(vacuum, iron, etc.) to replace old ones (mostly). Plus my mom kept saying its the only time you'll get this stuff & she's right. I know I'll be happy to have it in years to come when we have a house & kids & start doing holidays ourself.
