anyone else SICK of hearing...

'you should have just eloped'

when we got engaged FH's mother and my grandmother both kept telling us to elope.

every once in a while when i mention wedding costs someone chimes in w 'you should have eloped'.

now FH and i are having trouble paying our bills b/c i am out of work w no pay...so what did his mom say during dinner just now???

'i told you - you should have eloped'

i YELLED back at her 'maybe we should have! forget the fact that i've been wanting this my whole life...forget everything WE want!'

the rest of dinner was quiet. i feel bad i yelled at her. but it was just a matter of time...its been making me crazy every time i hear it!

Aww I'm sorry!!! I haven't gotten the elope comment but I have gotten-

1) Why do people get married the traditional way anymore- you are wasting so much money. You should have just put it all down towards a house and had a destination wedding!!!

2) When I am sharing (not even venting) my list of wedding to-do things, my own friends and family have said ' why are you putting so much thought and energy into this thing.... no one notices these things anyways'.

funny.. I am the one that keeps saying that, not our families. LOL.

i have been hearing the same thing for the past two years and i have a feeling if ANYTHING goes the slightest bit wrong on saturday it is even going to be said at my wedding ( yea. really)
