Anyone else so fed up with........

DIETING?? WORKING OUT??? UGGGGHHH!

I am killing myself trying to lose some extra pounds put on after two surgeries and I eat 1100 calories a day and have a personal trainer 2x a week and live at the gym the rest of the time (circuit, elliptical, etc.) Can anybody tell me why I have only lost a few inches, no pounds? I am so depressed

I can completely understand how frustrating it can be. I have decided to stop worrying what the scale says and go by the way my clothes are fitting. It is possible that if you are working out, you are gaining some muscle.... which makes it seem as though you are not losing weight... but maybe your clothes start to feel a little looser. Don't give up.... keep up the good work!

maybe you are doing too much. If you restrict your calorie intake too much and exercise excessively, your body could go into starvation mode and it will do everything it can to hold onto whatever fat/energy you have left.

SERIOUSLY? I just can't win. My trainer told me 1100 calories and actually wants me to increase my cardio-I am exhausted already!

I remember once my mom was really frustrated because she was working out lke crazy and not losing a single pound. It turned out that she wasn't eating enough and what SuzBride said was happening. Once she started eating a little more, she started losing weight.

Thanks for the advice. I will speak to my trainer today.

I totally understand! I tried dieting earlier this year. It failed. I was just plain hungry. Sometimes dieting does not work for me. The weekends would screw me. I use the weekend for wedding planning and after we are done. We go out to eat. Do you think I felt like cooking and weighing food after being out for hours on my feet making a thousand decisions. Hell no I wanted a drink and some good food.! Needless to say I didn't gain any weight. I only lost one size on top
But like I said on a previous post.

It's your wedding day, not a swimsuit competition!

This exact same thing happened to me. I hit a plateau in April after losing 25 lbs since January and I got so frustrated I wanted to quit. Once I changed my eating and varied my workouts, I started losing again. I have 25 more lbs to go to my goal weight and while I get so frustrated, I remind myself I don't want to be a fluffy bride in any other form except maybe my dress being fluffy. Keep going because you'll get there! Also, muscle weighs more than fat so it's good that you are losing inches. Don't pay so much attention to the scale because you'll drive yourself insane.

Thanks so much. I do feel like screaming sometimes! My FH hid the scale on me but I found it and now he yelled at me this morning and said he's throwing it out!!!

I have tried every diet within the last couple of months. I am having trouble with will power on some and some just chemically didn't work out for me. I started Nutri System yesterday. It is my last resort with only 39 days to go. I completely understand your frustration.
