Anyone else still referred to as GF?

He slips every once in a while. Fiance (male) and Fiancee (female) are very pretentious sounding words that neither one of us are 100% comfy with but we say it anyway. Last night I had to remind FH to call me his 'fiancee' and not his GF a his football team's Christmas party. He listened.

I agree with you that the words are very pretentious sounding, I try to refer to him as much as possible by his first name to avoid that uncomfortableness. It's funny though, he has it down pat and I'm the one who screws up and calls him my boyfriend from time to time. It's usually when he's present and he always seems to notice so I tell him I'm doing it to check and see if he's listening.

To me, i already feel married. We've been together for 7 years, living together for 1 year and have had a joint account for over a year. So what he introduces me as... does not matter to me. And i must say, i'm not a fan of the word 'fiance.' It just sounds funny to me. People already call him my husband and because of this, i find myself saying it every once in a while.

It doesn't really matter to me if i'm his gf, fiance, or wife. As long as i get to be with him, anything is fine with me.

*But i understand where you're coming from. Not that i'm old or anything, but sometimes when he says girlfriend, it makes me feel like i'm still in high school. I don't know why. Especially when being introduced to co-workers.

yes, actually just 'my girl'.

It is fine by me. He feels crazy saying 'fiance', and truthfully so do I.

My FH say 'my girl' all the time- but thats to people that already know me - when metting new people he always says FI

yeps, and its perfectly fine by me...and he's still my bf when i introduce him to others.

FI just doesn't sound right to me (even though that's what we are to each other!)

Yup, all the time. We feel like dorks saying fiance. Mostly I refer to him by his first name.

YES us too!! in the beginning, we felt like the biggest dorks when we say it.. and FH always says it with a french accent..
now i feel more comfy saying FI.. and he does too.. but we still have a laugh over it sometimes. gosh i can't imagine when we get married.. wife and husband.. yikes.. sounds like my parents..

i do not call him FI and i do not like being called it either - the word just does not flow right....i cant get into saying it....JMO

i usually just refer to him by his name....

Oh I'm glad we aren't the only ones. We're so ridiculous that we actually have conversations that go something like 'We should call each other FI' then we practice like idiots! Just doesn't work for us.

My FH sounds like such a snob when he says 'fiancee.' He changes his voice and raises his eyebrows every time he says it. What a dork. But I get annoyed when he calls me girlfriend. Poor guy can't win.

My FI does this all the time, he will refer to me as his girlfriend. So the other day I say to him 'I am your FI, I used to be your girlfriend-we're engaged!' He said that he just doesn't like the word and it sounds pretentious. It is not THAT big a deal-I guess-but I kind of feel I have earned the title and will only be a FI once-and only for 8 months at that! It took me awhile in the beginning to get used to calling him that-but now I feel fine calling him FI.

Yes and for the exact same reason as your FH, he thinks the word is stupid and pretentious. i got over it though because it actually does sound funny coming out of his mouth. GF is fine with me. Now, when we're married and he can't call me his wife...that's a whole different ball game all together!!!

FH loves to call me his fiance! I called him my boyfriend once and he corrected me!
