i hear ya...but its just the stuid little things that annoy me...like buying fast food constanlty...omg pack a friggin lunch!

FH is def the spender and I am the saver.
I sat there and actually made a spreadsheet of his expenses. It opened his eyes up. I had him set up a plan to pay off his debt and he is doing that as well as spending. I def helped him with this and it's frustrating at times but I told him he has to be fair and save the same amount I am saving and put it in our joint account. It has to be 50/50.

Only an acct that we opened after our e-party... other than that we have separate ones right now. I think it works better this way for now

lol!!! we set up a joint checking but we are both only allowed to deposit money into it to pay for the wedding. We dont have any joint accounts for everyday spending ... probably after the wedding, but not sure yet

FH was like this to until I had a serious talk with him about our finances and clearly layed out our financial situation to him. He has been MUCH better now.

OMG Mine too ... i thought that the girl was the one that spends but it looks like both of us are in backwards relationships lol!!!

that is what we are doing too .. we are both putting in the same amount every month no matter what

Girl,
I know your pain. I am the saver and he spends, but I have taken control of that. I think he has gotten better because he doesn't want to hear me scream! Haha!

us too....but for the regular bills in the house, we have a system of who pays what....

We haven't officially combined in an account yet, but we consider our separate savings to be one entity. I keep telling FH to cool it with buying lunch every day, but he won't, because he's too lazy to make his own lunch. It's so frustrating, I eat peanut butter every day!

mine is the same way... i figured out a way to somewhat curb the spending.
his check gets direct deposited in a account then he has a credit card i pay down and thats what he can use for that 2 weeks. if he spends it all at once thats on him i don't budge on the budgeted amount. it works for now and has been for the past 9 months so hopefully we can keep this going. it's a lot easier to pay bills if it all goes out of the same account.

This is exactly what we did. Going forward we will start combining things but for now it's just the gift money going in there. We're on the same page when it comes to spending so I don't forsee any problems but I worked hard to earn whatever money I have and I'd like to keep it under my name. I'm sure when we buy a place together this will all change.

I'm very good at not spending money and saving---he ISN'T. What we did now that we're planning a wedding is make a monthly buget. (actually his idea--he knew it was all him) We included food, rent, car payments first and then putting anything away. He has stopped buying fast food and we don't go out to eat that much at all. Those things really help.
