FH & I are exactly alike when it comes to this we bothcreated spreadsheets of our finances seperately & then one of our monies combined. We both like to spend & we both liek good quality things. So its usually always expensive. lol But when it comes to certain times & things we both know how to choke up on the spending.

We only have a joint account for wedding expenditures. But when we get married were going to split our money how they suggested in pre-marital class to help with a successful budget. Which was: Combine both checks into one account : 70% Bills 10% joing savings acct 10% split that in half & thats personal spending money for you to do what you want 10% tithes (if you dont go to church you can put it towards savings)

Don't get me started . . . . I'm an attorney, who made a great salary before I opened my own firm. It will take months before that salary, and then much more, kicks in . . . .. and it will, but it means you have to tighten up for those first few months. I get nothing but the same spending behavior from FH, who seems to think my inevitable income will make up for it all. This has been the number one cause of problems for us these last few months, pitting my best personal and best professional achievements against each otherl The best guy and the best position (owner of firm) can't seem to find a middle ground!!!

Yeah....I know the feeling. When I first got ahold of FH's credit cards I saw he was paying 25%...HELLO ... We got rid of those immediately. Now he is much better. And I sneak in a few new outfits every now and then!!
