Anyone else worried that a family member might ruin their day?
My mom is one of those overly critical to the point of being offensive type women. She's like that because she cares and wants the very best for me...but sometimes it's too much to deal with. So far, she's called me multiple times to tell me what she doesn't like about my dress (too long) , my veil (too long), my hair (too weird and old looking, should do half down like all the other brides), my makeup, my flowers (too small compared to the bridesmaids' bouquets), etc.
She just can't help herself even when i tell her it upsets me. She'll repeat all her comments. I know if she does it the day of, i'll be so pissed, even if i try to not let it affect me.

I think all mothers are like that, they just want the best and especially during the wedding of their daughter, they want everything to be perfect

I am worried some of my bm's won't be supportive the day of, like bm's should be. a couple of them have already said they're going to get ready at home (I'm not making them get their hair and makeup done if they don't want to), but that means they won't get to be with me and join the excitement of getting ready.

Sweetie, wouldn't it be great if the BM's would just cooperate!!!!!???? Debi has been having BM issues too. Hope things get better for you, Debi, and all the Brides who are having these stresses!! Mary MOB

I have some concerns about FMIL & FSIL, right now FSIL is not coming but we'll see if that changes. I have 3 family members on my side who will not be attending because they're not happy I'm getting married (the old misery loves company scenario). You have to get through the day just emembering its about you and your FH.

Jen, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I was just having this conversation with my mom the other day. She said, as a mother, even if you don't like what your daughter has chosen, you put on a smile and fake it... FOR YOUR DAUGHTER.
If I were you, I'd have a sibling or a family member who is aware of your mother's attitude act as a barrier the day of. If she starts in on you, this sibling or family member can step in... your dad might even be able to do it.

Hey if it makes you feel better my mom is the same way. She has been like that ever since i got engaged!! You have to ignore and never ask her opinion. I try to involve her in the least amount of stuff as possible. It's sad bc she is your mom but you should be enjoying this part in your life.

I am worried about my fh's ex-step mother getting upset that she doesnt have more say in the wedding. She is really a guest more-so than anything. I hope she is not expecting to get announced. FFIL was separated from her when i met FH.
