Anyone ever bought jewelry on EBAY?

What was you experience?
Was the product real?

I saw a setting that my FMIL wants and someone has a great price for one. No stone, just a gold setting.
I never got jewelry from EBAY but other products. Not sure but a great deal!

I bought my wife's wedding band on ebay. In fact we got one just like this... and from this seller.

Diamond & Sapphire Wedding Band

I immediately took it to Jewlery Judge after getting it (they have a 7day return I believe).

Everything on it was real. My only complaint was... they overexaggerated the size of the stones. They said it has 1.9 carats of sapphires and 1.4 of diamonds. My appraiser said it only had 1.45 sapphires and 1.02 of diamonds.

I bitched to them and they took off $400 buks off the price.


I have heard that since a lot of vendors on ebay sell without a GIA certificate (they use stuff like NGL)... expect at least a whole grade of quality difference in what you get compared to whats advertised.

So if the ring is 1.2carats, VS1, D color... it may very well be 1.05carats, SI1, F-G color.


Just look at feedback first. Make sure they have a strong return policy. And get the piece APPRAISED by an INDEPENDENT appraiser that does not sell their own jewelery. Jewelery Judge is perfect for this.

Then you should be fine. CRAZY bargains can be had on ebay if you buy from the right people.

About 3 or 4 years ago I bought Tiffany jewlery from E-Bay. First I bought the diagnal (sp??) ring which is definetely real and I was very happy with! Then I bought the Tiffany choker which as soon as I opened I knew was not genuine Tiffany..so I contacted the owner and told him that it definetely was not and I listed all of the reasons why...and I was given a quick refund! My experience was good...I think you should go with a well known seller...in my opinion because if its not what you want then they will do their best to accomodate you since they don't want a bad rating from you!
