My aunt bought us the quilt we wanted from Fortunoff, however she didn't get us the pillow shams. I called customer service and there were only three left in the store. Since they're on sale and on their way to being discontinued, I didn't want to run the risk of having the quilt and no shams (and would someone really buy us the shams if someone else bought the quilt?) so I bought them. We're also likely moving in a couple of months and I thought it would be nice to start off with new bedroom linens. I just feel so odd buying it myself!

Don't feel odd. Just figure it's an advancement on all those people who are going to give you $$. Then you can say that they bought them for you.

We did too. Some of the stuff I bought that was on the registry, I got from the outlet store when it was on sale and then went on line and took it off.

I would definitely buy something off my own registry if it were discontinued or on sale. Sometimes there are bonuses when you buy things like a set of pots you get a pasta pot or ice bucket. Or with your china you can get a free soup bowl.

I actually bought my quilt and flatware for the same reason. It was being discontinued and it was SO difficult to find something we both liked, I had no intention of going through that again!

I haven't yet, but have a coupon for Bloomingdales for this weekend, so I've been thinking about it. I registered for some much, I'll be happy if I get 1/3 of what I registered for!
Also if you buy something off your own registry I think at Fortunoffs you get 10% off.

Actually, a friend of mine recommended that we buy a few pieces of our crystal so that it looks like someone bought it for us already. Sometimes people feel weird being the first one to start to buy pieces. Not sure of the logic but it worked.

Re: Anyone ever buy something off their own registry?
I have purchased items off the registry if was on sale. When I am in the mood to go clothes shopping, I will go to fortunoff's or BB&B and buy something off the registry. That way I don't spend as much money as I would clothes shopping and I am buying something for US.

My sil works for macys. So when something is on sale or clearance she buys it. She has gotten so much off of her own registry there is nothing left for everyone else to buy

No... Well, actually - yes. We returned something that was damaged in shipping and exchanged it for something else for the same price... they didn't have the original item in stock.

Re: Anyone ever buy something off their own registry?
I bought things from our registry but didn't take them off the registry because they were on sale and I was afraid would be sold out and then someone bough the item for me, so I returned the one I bought. I felt better knowing I had it though.
If you want to buy something, leave it on the registry, save your receipt and if someone gets it for you, return the one you bought and if not, you feel better knowing you have it.

Not yet! I was going to buy the one thing my FH actually put on our registries as a surprise for him to open at the shower (whenever that is) and someone already got it!

Re: Anyone ever buy something off their own registry?
I have to because there are a lot of things still left on my registry that I need such as glasses and sliverware. (my shower was this past saturday) I actually was suprised at how many people did not purchase things from my registry.
