It was ok. We liked Royal Caribbean better - better staff, better food...

Re: Anyone ever cruise Carnival?

I went on the Carnival Valor last February. I went to Belize, Honduras, Cayman Islands and Costa Maya. I loved Honduras! I will say I was extremely disappointed with carnival. The food was absolutely disgusting! I think I lost weight instead of gained weight. I would honestly suggest another cruiseline. I personally will never do another carnival cruiseship.

Re: Anyone ever cruise Carnival?

we took carnival to halifax and st. john in canada.
it was ok, but it was disorganized and lacked crowd control.

people were very pushy and selfish and many lacked any sort of class.

for example, when we were lining up to go off the ship at the different ports, people were pushing and cutting and being very disrespectful, same goes for the buffets.

and one night we ordered room service and we didnt eat the potato chips and we left them on the tray outside our door to be picked up and we heard a noise and DH saw someone sitting on the floor eating off our tray.
hello-- like there's not a ton of food that is always available and included for everyone?

Re: Anyone ever cruise Carnival?

FI has been on 6 carnival cruises and I've been on 2. I thought they were great. We also have been on disney and princess. Every so often one of the ships doesn't have great food like some one mentioned but for the most part the food is great. We gained like 10 pounds. Princess was nice but not as much fun ... too stuffy. There are a lot of kids if you go during a school vacation time but the last one we went on was during the school year and there definitely were not that many kids. What's nice about them is you can get a balcony for a good price, even a suite! FM me if you need anymore info...

Carnival is ok-- but Royal Carib is SOOO much better--- its a little 'classier' and the staff/food/atmosphere is better

Re: Anyone ever cruise Carnival?

I've cruised on Carnival Inspiration: Tampa, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman. Then we cruised on Carnival Glory: Cape Canaveral, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Belize.....I had a wonderful time on both but I enjoyed the larger cruise (Glory) more. It was nicer than the smaller ship. I must agree...

I had a great time on my carnival cruise, but there were A LOT of kids.

Re: Anyone ever cruise Carnival?

Thanks everyone.
After looking into a bunch of cruises for our HM, FH really wants to hold off until the fall. Im a little hesitant b/c of it being hurricane season but he's really not feeling the Caribbean during the end of June...too hot!

Re: Anyone ever cruise Carnival?

We have been on 4 cruises, one of which was Carnival!

We went on a New YEars eve cruise- so we had a REALLY GREAT time, but having been on other cruises-I was able to see the differences between Carnival and others

Yes, many, many years ago. I remember the crowd was very young and yes there were a lot of kids too, but that may have been because of the timing, we went in January.

I thought the food was good, nothing to write home about, same as you'd get in a hotel restaurant. There were many choices and you could eat all day and night if you wanted to, though.

I do remember there were a TON of activities and things to do, lots of entertainment.

Would I cruise with them again? Probably not, as I am older now, but if the price difference was that much, I maybe could be persuaded.

HTH!

I've been on many Carnival cruises all in the summer months. It can get pretty hot but it's a lot of fun and there is so much to do! I have also been on Royal Caribbean and they are a great cruise line as well. I am sure you will have fun and have a great time in whatever you decide to do!

Re: Anyone ever cruise Carnival?

I have to say, this is one of those things that is purely dependant on the individual. I've cruised both Carnival and Royal Carribbean and I've loved every one of our Carnival cruises and HATED Royal Carribbean.

Myself and my family have always thought the food on Carnival was awesome (especially the midnight gala buffet). Some people dont like the food. Then again, some people just complain about everything and wouldnt know good food if it smacked them upside the head. You cant always rely on other's opinions.

entertainment on Carnival is outstanding -- some of the best on the water. The staff has always been MORE than attentive and theres sooo much to do.

The crowd is not 'young' -- its youngER than on some other cruise lines. You wont find many kids on Princess and Celebrity, but you will find a ton of old people. There are kids on carnival, but to be honest, most of the crowd on Carnival is 20-somethings. Personally, I wouldnt like to go on a cruise with all 40+ when I'm in my 20's, so I've alwasy enjoyed the age group on Carnival.

My advice to you would be to book the cruise whose itinterary you like best -- not book the cruise that everyone tells you is good or bad, because everyone has different standards and a lot of what you hear will not be true.

Re: Anyone ever cruise Carnival?

I went on Carnival last summer with FH and LOVED IT!
The food was good and there was a lot of things to do. The service was pretty good from the time we booked it until the time that we got off! I would recommend them to anyone.

As for the kids.....most of them were at camp carnival so we didnt even know that we were there.

Yes but we did it on Carnival. It was a nice itinerary.

As for the Carnival question, FH and I did that last year and we had a great time. As for kids, I really didn't notice them too much. Like someone else said, I think they are in Camp Carnival. Trust me, I don't like kids so I would definitley have noticed them being a nuisance if it were an issue. Carnival is a party cruise line, which suits FH and I's personality. If you are looking for more low key and elegant, I would go with Princess or Holland America.
