Anyone ever drop something heavy on their foot?

I dropped a big pot on my foot about 3 weeks ago and the inside of my toe nail is still black....it looks like there is trapped blood in there...the funny thing is that it doesn't hurt at all....but it is really interfering with my pedicures ....All the colors look funny on that toe....will this go away on its own...it looks like it hasn't healed at all....a friend of mine said this happened to her finger once when she closed it in a door and the doctor had to make a hole in her nail to drain the blood out . has anyone heard of this? Sounds too painful for me....I think I'd rather keep the blood in there.

Re: Anyone ever drop something heavy on their foot?

maybe you could soak it in some peroxide? it may hurt a little (less than getting a hole in your toe though ).. but that may clean the dried blood out of it.... that what i did when i had that under my toe-nail

Re: Anyone ever drop something heavy on their foot?

When I was in high school I slipped on a big sheet of ice on the way into school and slid into the door, unfortunately my toe is what stopped me! My toenail was black! The doctor told me to just wait, and the blood would come out as my nail grew.

It took a while but it did go back to normal after a few months...

Re: Anyone ever drop something heavy on their foot?

I dropped a cookie sheet on my toe (not very heavy but it fell sideways and landed directly on my big toe). It turned black and hurt for a few days but not any longer. I thought it would just grow out but the growth was stunted or something. It took soooo long for that one toenail to grow.
Well, a few MONTHS later I noticed a new nail was growing in behind it. It took forever but the new nail gradually pushed the black one up and off. The 'accident' happened Christmas Eve and I finally had my new nail by the beginning of the summer!!

I will ask him but I don't think it hurt even though it sounds like it might. I will report back in a few.

OK, he said that it was hot and it felt like a little pin for a sec but was not bad at all...and despite his being a big hulky footballer, he is a total wuss! So if he did it, you will be fine!

We decided against it because the day we went back to make the offer we noticed that there was a huge leak in the basement.....they actually just dropped the house another twenty thousand...but i'm not sure if its worth it because of all the work it needs.
