anyone ever have an allergic reaction to eyeshadow?
I'm so worried...this has never happened to me before. I've been using the same eyeshadow since November or so when I went on my trial at MAC for my epics. When I went back to school in January after xmas break, I started noticing I'd wake up and my eyelids would be SO puffy. Then the skin began to dry up and get really red. So I stopped wearing my eyeshadow altogether.
I am soooooo concerned. Last night I had a performance, so I figured I'd try my eyeshadow again. I changed my eyeshadow brushes, used the same eyeshadow and I'm still having a reaction......maybe I should just throw out the eyeshadow (man that stinks cuz it ain't cheap!) and buy something else and see how I react?
I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them....thanks!

Oh WOW!!!!! That's not fun Tara........
I would stop using that eyeshadow for sure......it's unfortunate that you spent a lot of money on it, but I would take the loss over that reaction any day........
I can't wear VS lip gloss.......it gives me cold sores.......weird huh?? Must be something in these products that are making us react to them to strangely.
Try a couple other brands and see if you get the same reaction. If not, then you know you can't use that eyeshadow anymore......but if you do, then I would see your doctor......see what they say.

I am alergic to alot of make up. I have really sensitive skin. I am really worried about getting my make-up done for this reason. But all in all I would definitely get rid of the eyeshadow. Just a little tip- if you ever have a make up reaction put MILK on the area having the reaction. Something in milk counter acts the reaction.

make-up has a lot of scary crap in it...... I didn't wear it for several years while I was in grad school (for biochemistry) and was shocked reading the ingredient lists after I graduated... Many of the items (in more concentrated forms) induce irritation, or even worse... we were taught to handle many of these chemicals with gloves and masks...
I bought a lot of smashbox make-up for the wedding.... and am hesitant to use 'regular make-up'.... For everyday use, I restrict myself to natural make-ups like burts bees, aveda, and origins.... try those brands....

my skin is VERY sensitive.... so my 'beauty' routine consists of Cetaphil lotion.... then ONLY bare minerals makeup! i've never had a problem with any of their products (eye shadows, blush, etc.)

I just don't get how I could be wearing this eyeshadow since November and now I get a reaction...it's so bizarre. Not to mention I've been wearing MAC eyeshadow for years!!!
I really hope my makeup artist can find the right makeup so I don't have this problem!
When I went to TWOTY, I could feel my eyes sort of burning towards the end of the night. Last thing I want is to feel that way again! The good thing though, is that the puffiness and redness/dryness happens the next morning.
Ugh who needs this?!

i think Bare Minerals makes eyeshadow..maybe try that? There's supposed to be no chemicals.

Maybe you just recently developed this reaction though. I know sometimes you use a product for awhile and then eventually you become allergic. It's like shellfish allergies. Many people get them after being exposed to shellfish a lot in a short period of time.

You know, that does make sense, especially because I was never allergic to cats until I hit my 20's....
Allergies are WEIRD!
I'm just praying it's not to all eyeshadow!!! I guess I'll have to talk with my makeup artist to make sure she uses something pure.

OK, so I know this sounds wierd, but it may be a cold....
Hear me out on this... My eyes were burning and watering last night, and I was worried it may be my make-up (I was testing out wedding make-up)... I washed my face and put moist papertowels on them... they got better.
This morning, FH fried veggies for an omlette, and the faint smoke coming from the kitchen drove my eyes crazy. They were burning and tearing. I was better after we aired the room out. Now, FH has a bit of an odd feeling in his eyes...
Maybe wait several days, and see if things get better....

I wish it was something like that, but I don't think it is. I only have this reaction anytime I wear the eyeshadow. I stopped for several weeks...and then I tried it again and I got the same reaction. It's so frustrating!
I thought it could have been related to the cold, since my skin always gets dry around this time- but I keep seeing a pattern here with the eyeshadow.

try clinique - they're hypoallergenic. I can only use their make-up for that SAME reason. My eyes got red and REALLY itchy and sore when I'd use other eyeshadow....

I had an allergic reaction to a new eyeshadow I bought and it was horrible. My eye lids were so itchy, and swollen. Try not to put anything on for a week or so, I just held off with makeup it cleared up.

Thanks so much...I imagine you tossed that eyeshadow and found another one that worked, huh? I'm so worried it might just be any eyeshadow! It's so weird that it took months for me to have this reaction to the same eyeshadow!

Maybe you just need to buy new eye shadow not necessarily new brand. Ive heard you are supposed to get rid of it after a certain amount of time
