We just looked at a house that had radiant heat throughout....it's a heating system that is actually underneath the flooring. Neither of us had ever heard of this before.
Anyone know the pros/cons of this?

Re: Anyone ever hear of radiant heating?
We had radiant heating in a couple of rooms in the house I grew up in. The only plus, IMO, was that when you were sitting or lying on the floor watching TV, you were nice and toasty!

Re: Anyone ever hear of radiant heating?
My in-laws recently renovated their house and added radiant heating to the kitchen and great room floors. The radiant heat is under Pergo in one room, ceramic tile in another. They are very happy with it!
Radiant heat is very energy efficient (since it warms the surface-no hot air rising and escaping), quiet (no blowing fans), and clean (since no fans, no dust).
I'd love to install it in our house. Wow, and in the driveway would be a dream!!!

Teri...
I work for a rep company that teps the best Radiant Manufacturer around....check out the website and FM me if you'd like any info...I can mail stuff out to you if need be. Also be aware that the more modern radiant is alot cleaner and more efficient than the old copper tubing in the slab housing which is also considered radiant heating.
My parents house had it on the first floor growing up it was soooooooo nice. I never had to wear slippers or socks floor was always warm. The house was never stuffy the way it is now. They got a new oil burner a few years ago and got baseboard done at the same time it isnt the same the house is always cold and dry. I totally miss it.
