Anyone ever skip a night of pre-Cana?

Anyone ever skip a night of pre-Cana?

My FH is sick. He has to wake up at 5am to go to work. He just started his job, so he can't take off from work. Last night, he couldn't sleep at all, and he just called me that he feels like crap and wants to skip pre-Cana tonight. The problem with our pre-Cana is that it's from 8-10. By the time we get home, it will be 10:30 and he's won't be in bed until 11. He just wants to go home and sleep. They asked us last week (our first night) that we try not to miss a night, but if we have to, to call them and let them know. Joe is totally up for going earlier next week to make up for this week, I just feel bad skipping the first real 'session' night of pre-Cana. Are we the only ones here who have?

Sarah - I am sure if you call them and explain the situation they will understand. They will probably have you come a few minutes earlier next week though.
BTW - Did you FH like it any better after finally going?

We did for similiar reasons...We called our lead couple & explained...They were so understanding. Your FH needs his rest more then anything!!

Thanks! I just feel bad since it's only 5 nights, but my FH is really sick. I wish our pre-Cana was from 6-8 or 7-9... 8-10 is SO late!

He wasn't doing cartwheels, but I can really tell he liked it. He opened up so much... and even made me cry when he was talking about me! Getting him to do the 'homework', however, is like getting a kid to do it! I, on the other hand, LOVED answering those questions... I like that outlet to express ourselves honestly to work on certain parts of our relationship. The great thing is, I think he read my answers last night when he wasn't able to sleep. This morning, he called me and, while he didn't say he read my answers, it felt like he was addressing a lot of the concerns that I wrote about (especially the 'financial' stress that I feel is all on me and needing more income since his new job is initially a bit of a pay cut. He said we'll talk this weekend about what we're gonna do and what other job he's going to get!.) . And he said that since we can't go tonight, we'll go way earlier next week, and that it will be better for us because it will be one on one.

Just explain the situation. The most important thing is that you and FI go over the topics that were going to be discussed that night, make sure you do the exercises, etc. It sounds like you guys will make an effort to do that so hopefully they will be ok with it! Hope your FI feels better.
