yep-- FH asked me in a drunken incoherant babble on new years eve and then the next day i gave him the out and asked him if he remembered what he said-- but he said of course he remembered!

that's when he started saving and 6 months later i got the bling

yes. We were together for 5 years, and there was just no money for the ring. To be honest, even though I loooove my bling and appreciate the hard work put into saving for it, I wouldn't be upset if I didn't have an e-ring.

yup! in part b/c i have insanely small fingers and it took an eternity to arrive.

Okay, just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one!

There will be a ring - and I'm sure a 'real proposal' will accompany it... but we have to start planning ASAP if we can pull this off before FH goes back to school next year. I just wanted to make sure others wouldn't be like 'so where's the ring??' when we start telling people!

We actually WOULD wait to tell people, but... we want to clear dates with close family as we pick a date - and we may be picking a date before the ring arrives...

Yes, actually almost a year before the ring. He sat me on his lap and asked me to marry him. He called me his 'fiancee' after that, and then when we finally got the ring, he started calling me his wife.

I just hope my parents don't look at us cross-eyed... though it'll make them happy since we won't be 'living in sin' much longer.

yup. i was 'engaged' pre-bling. we put a deposit down on a hall 2 wks before he 'officialy' proposed. but we knew it was happening.

Actually.... the truth is, we aren't officially engaged yet! He hasn't come out and said the phrase and he's working on getting the ring, but we KNOW we want to marry each other, so we're going ahead with the planning anyway, before having the ring.
I'm promised the ring and official engagement proposal by the end of this year.
(we are going to London and Paris in November and I have a hunch he might do it there.... I hope so!! )

We are in the same boat! Except we are waiting to tell most people, especially in my family b/c my sister got engaged in May and thinks the world revolves around her. God forbid I should get engaged & married in the same year as her! What she doesn't know is.. I AM!! lol I love my sis, but she's being ridiculous!!

I still don't have an engagement ring. And I never will. It would freak me out for anyone to spend that kind of money on a ring for me. I told him we can spend it on the wedding and our house.

Oh yes. I recieved the ring Christmas of 04' we were 'officialy' engaged in July. I think it made things less stressful for my husband. Plus I had the proposal twice!

I had the ring about 6 months and we told everyone it was a friendship ring because his divorce was not final yet. We got engaged officially months later. Just give me the BLING who cares about the title.

We just said 'ok, let's get married'. We booked our hall, flowers, photographer and dj...then got engaged 'officially'.

Well FH purposely never officially asked without a ring, just because we had waited SO long for an engagment that he wanted to really WOW me... BUT since we had been dating 7 1/2 years, we KNEW it was bound to happen eventually...
