We are in the same boat! Except we are waiting to tell most people, especially in my family b/c my sister got engaged in May and thinks the world revolves around her. God forbid I should get engaged & married in the same year as her! What she doesn't know is.. I AM!! lol I love my sis, but she's being ridiculous!!

OH and my FH's name is Todd too!!

What a coincidence!

a few close people knew but we didn't tell his family b/c his brother was getting married around that time...we made the BIG announcement to everyone after I got the ring

then it was like everyone would ask
'so have you set a date?' yep
'have you picked a church?' yep
'reception hall?' yep
'uh when did you get engaged?'

it was kinda funny

That's exactly what our situation will be like once we annouce it!

yup. i was 'engaged' pre-bling. we put a deposit down on a hall 2 wks before he 'officialy' proposed. but we knew it was happening.

YEP! FH asked me in April and I got the ring in July

Same with us! and believe me my bling was worth the wait!!! It doesn't matter what people say, do what makes you and FH happy, people will get over it if they 'disagree'

Sort of the same here.

I was never technically asked in the beginning b/c we already lived together and decided to talk about it and set a date before we went to Florida. FH did not have the money for a ring at that time b/c we already had house bills and he had a kidney transplant not too long before so work was limited.

The weekend we came back from Florida, we went to Jericho Terrace and booked it. About 1 1/2 months later when he had the ring, he actually did get on one knee and ask though and then I got my bling and I love it..

Sort of. We talked about it and it was on order. We booked the hall before I actually had the ring. I found the dress before, but order it officially after. That was only because I needed the shoes to do hollow to hem.

AHHH I thought i was all alone with this one!!!!!!! We are NOT engaged yet either (but i know its just a matter of time)!!!! We booked our hall and have gone along with planning mainly to get the fate we wanted (06/07/08) AND to get 2006 rates!!!!! SOOOO with that I will keep u guys posed!!!!!

yes i did. he actually gave me a promise ring for christmas, he didnt propose with it because he told me he didnt want me to think he was weird and rushing things, but i wish he did...but that night we were laying in bed and then asked me to marry him...which i didnt believe because well it was really early in our relationship...i think he proposed about 10 times the last time being with the promise ring...and then i believed him...a month later he really proposed with the ring. something i'll never forget

Yup! I'de say probally 1 year or so after we started dating we were sitting watching a movie and he said I love you will you marry me. Out of nowhere. 2 yrs later down the road he actually proposed.

well its an ongoing joke that we've been married since 1996...that's when we met and started dating. it's been 10 wonderful years together and i couldnt imagine being with anyone else! in 2004 we started seriously talking about getting engaged (we were always too young before that) and we got engaged on Christmas 04!

It's so funny that you guys are saying all this. My FH and I had talked about it for so long before the actual proposal and he made affording the ring such an issue that I said to him a few times, 'I don't even need a ring, let's just get married'. He acted like that was unheard of!

FH asked my parents & brother for their permission & blessing on Mother's Day. We booked our location Memorial Day weekend & I got my ring on June 20th. I tried to wait until I got my ring to tell people except close family but that didn't work and of course I had some people ask about the ring but I didn't care..Just knowing that FH and I are on our way to finally getting married is good enough for me!!!

Me and FH would ask each other all the time in private and talk about some little details about the wedding we wanted before we 'officially' were engaged, however, his brother booked his hall shortly before giving his now wife a ring.
