Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

I got a couch there and my family hasordered other pieces.

The quality matches the price. So for the money, its not bad. But its not going to last you a lifetime nor will it be an heirloom piece. Its a 'good for now' sort of thing.

The service was fine. Delivered on time, etc. I havent had to deal with them aside from that.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

I agree with Stef. When I first lived on my own, most of my furniture came from Seaman's. I still have a lot of the stuff- and that was from 8 or 9 years ago. Good luck!

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

Ditto to what Stef said, but I also wanted to add get your delivery during the week, NOT on Saturday. The delivery men on Saturday's are very rushed, and we had a horrible time with them 3 times. We arranged for a Thursday on the 4th attempt and it was a breeze.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

I had a very bad experience with service, and the quality is NOT impressive at all. Our living room set is going on 4 yrs old and it is totally'Shot' and has been for almost a year. I will NEVER buy from there again. At best, it's transitional furniture.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

Our BR set is from there and we are satisfied with everything. We did have some slight damage to some of the pieces on delivery but they replaced them pretty effortlessly.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

My entire house is furnished with furniture from Seamans's! I bought a condo last year...and I got all my furniture from there. When I had my apartment...my furniture was also from Seamans. When I moved...I gave my bedroom set to my cousins (it was still in good shape), but I just wanted new stuff for my new house. No problems.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

We were there on sunday, and we also went to Levitts. I know that they are owned by the same company, but I have to say that Seamans furniture is better quality that Levitts. We found a really nice sectional in the closeout area but we didnt purchase it. We probably should of but we didnt.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

My mom has a lot of furniture from Seaman's. All of her stuff is fine (over 10 yrs old....) I do remember that there were issues with delivery. They brought the wrong item 3 times and once it was damaged. A little bit of a pain.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

We just ordered couches and a dinette set from them a few weeks ago. we got an amazing deal. they even said if we saw a better promotion after we bought it, just to come in and they would change the price. the deferred paymen until april 2005 when we opened a Seaman's card. The salesman was so great & honest. we even went back to see if the president's day sales were better and we had actually gotten everything for cheaper a few weeks ago!

My daughters bedroom set is from there and it is shot already at a year old! The quality is poor. Delivery and customer service were fine.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

ALL my furniture it from Seamans and Levitz. Haven't had a problem with anything.

As far as quality goes, there are lower end and higher end items. You have to know what to look for...

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

Yes, we ordered a leather couch and loveseat from them last January and had NO problems. They delivered on time and did a great job getting the couches into the apartment (compared to Jennifer Convertibles who ripped our brand new couch getting it through the door and then we were fighting with them for months to get new furniture!) We finally wound up getting our money back from them and ordered with Seaman's which was a great experience for us

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

we ordered our bedroom set from them. had a problem with delivery. they nicked the ceiling putting in the dresser. the venner on the wood is coming off. if i leave a perfume bottle on the dresser, the outline will show up. i cant leave anything on it now. but it was inexpensive and it does what its supposed to do. i will just have to be creative on covering the stains.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

My brother recently bought a living room set from them. It was an overstuffed leather set. So after they left my SIL sat on it and got up right away because he butt was soaking wet. .... Anyway, it turns out that the furniture was soaking wet, and Seamens excuse 'Oh it must have been from the bad rains torm we had' HELLO why were their brand dnew couches left in the rain.... Anyway it took them over two weeks to come back.

EDT: I know that there prices are very competetive so that is one good thing... but if you can afford something more I would go to Harry for the HOme. They have beautiful stuff.

Good lUCK!!!!!!

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

My dining room set is from Seamans - out of all the furniture I bought they were the best to deal with. The delivery guys were so careful on my newly varnished floors - I was really impressed.

The quality is ok - good enough for now. If it lasts another 5 years I'll be more than happy. My parents bought a leather couch and tables from them 2 years ago - they are definitely withstanding the abuse.

I've had major problems with Macy's furniture - wouldn't buy from them again.

Re: anyone get furniture from Seaman's??

Decent quality for the price. I agree with what someone said- you get what you pay for.
I have a dinette set that cost around 500 from them -- I bought it about 6 yrs ago. It's a light colored pine/green wood oval/ pedestal table and chairs set. The table still looks great but I've since replaced all 4 chairs after many breaks in the legs - they were really shoddy. I remember the service being fine.
